I don't think I love the builds that much myself though as they do struggle to be fully optimised, targets can ignore your fire for the most part at their optimal range, and while you can out dps most people, all it takes it one or two heavy alpha builds to focus you, and all that DPS goes to waste.
The idea you have to constantly look at a target to get full damage exchange is hard to work with in brawls too. So for me AC2 just ends up mostly in a hard to utilise place, but yeah 6x is dakka dakka deadly when used right I guess.

AC2 always had less than 1 second cooldown. In fact, it used to have 0.5 second cooldown until PGI decided that it was too much.

Im talking broad meta, not specific build meta.
In the case of MWO the broad meta is Alpha striking.
And since i have a long standing hatred towards LRM's, becouse while the weapon itself i have no problem with, its the fact that boating is a thing in the this game so LRM's are never used as a suplimentry weapon but instead boated. As such, i hate them, they are a constant nuisance and relativly skilless weapon that can cause major issues for any mech that is slow and lacks any LRM defence.
So i dont run alpah builds at all, or LRMs, I only run DPS or burst builds.
Currently the only 2 mechs i run are a KGC-000 King Crab, and a DWF-UV Direwhale with B varient side torso omni-pods.
That ofcourse means i run 6x AC2 on the KingCrab and 8x AC2 on the Dire.
Since LBX2 still are not balanced vs other sized LBX weapons, i dont use them, their velocity and range are just to weak vs normal and Ultra AC2's.
As for the Ultra's, with the increased heat over normal, and the fact Jam time is a universal figure of 3.75 seconds regardless of AC size (and thus their CD), they are horribly inefficent, loosing over 5 Rounds each jam, 10 if you double tap without jaming.
Thus normal AC2's are the only way to go imo.
Comments on these builds effictivness are correct.
They only work well in certain situations. if you get primaried, which in the Direwhale you will, chances are you wont end up being of any use.
However if you do the one thing most non assault players hate, and thats stand back and wait, you can walk in and clean house once the enemie team has been thined out and the potential alpha damage and chances of being primaried by multiple players is lowered.
AC2 boats are wicked at cleaning up, and 1v1 fresh vs fresh, they cant be beat, they have too much DPS for an alpha build to out brawl. That said, the DWF will get owned by a light, not so much the KGC due to its superior torso yaw amount.
One thing they are very good at though is farming exp and C-Bills, even if you die within the first few minutes of a game, or the first 20 seconds of combat, the amount of damage you'll put out in that time will give you a high score. Very often i will end up with the highest score in the game even after dieing early, even the 1st death, and my team loosing, earning a more than respectable amount of C-Bills and ether breaking equal on rank, or gaining rank xp, its very rare it goes down.
In a good match where you survive and get some good face time vs the enemy, you can rack up 1k damage with ease.
That is, if you ammo lasts. I run 10 tonns of ammo, with ammo bonus thats 910 rounds, its not enough, infact idealy you would want 1500 rounds, thats about 17 tonns with the ammo bonus currently, good luck fitting that, even the King Crab without AMS and the associated ammo can only really run 15 tonns on a 300 engine and some armor sacrificed.
But most importantly, these builds are .... FUN when you rapid fire those AC2's

It ruins the dps AND burst potential of the ultra autocannon 2's completely.

I never really have heat problems in my 6 cUAC/2 Night Gyr? Only get hot if I've been firing non-stop for most of the match, and that just requires me taking a 5-10 second break and I can go the rest of the match without being in trouble again.

It only takes like 7-9 double taps in succession should push you to overheating, that isn't a whole lot.

Honestly the more you mount, the less enticing UAC2s are due to the extra heat they have (they were the only AC2 to maintain their 0.8 heat instead of getting dropped to 0.6). I think I prefer the 8 cAC2 over the 8 cUAC2 build on the Ultraviole(n)t for example.
