For one, standard retail ALPHA/BETA definitions do not apply to online F2P games. The game will always be in development, which means, new features and content will roll out frequently. We have not announced hard dates for Open Beta or Release. Our goal has always been to hit Open Beta before the end of summer.

Founder's:
  • On August 7th, Founder's early access will begin and still considered part of the Closed Beta period.
  • Player's will have access to all of their Founder's perks and rewards.
  • -->These rewards will be reset from time-to-time during until Open Beta. (new)<--
  • When MWO goes Open Beta, all Founder's perks and rewards will be reset to 100% for the final time.
  • Once in Open Beta, your premium account bonuses will begin, and any MC used will be permanently spent.
Release (TBD):
  • Game is stable.
  • New features are grouped into more formal releases.
  • New content is added on a regular basis.
  • Unrestricted public access.
  • Ongoing tuning and minor bug fixing.
Open Beta (TBD):
  • Game is 95% stable.
  • The core game is done.
  • Ancillary features are done.
  • New features are still being added.
  • New content is added on a regular basis.
  • Throttled public access.
  • Data is no longer reset.
  • Balance and tuning are still happening regularly in response to scaling up the user base.
  • Some bugs.
Closed Beta (March-TBD):
  • Game is 80% stable.
  • The core game is done.
  • Ancillary features are done.
  • New features still being added.
  • New content is added on a regular basis.
  • Access by invitation only.
  • Player's will be able to purchase MC with real currency. All purchases are tracked and will be credited to a player's account when Open Beta starts. Example: If you purchase 5,000 MC during Closed Beta, your account will be credited with 5,000 MC once Open Beta begins.
  • Data is reset regularly.
  • Balance and tuning are extensive and regular.
  • Lots of bugs.

i just found this in a posting...dose anyone have any updated info?

Nope nothing newer than this. Bryan Erkman also stated this to be true. So at the moment it is the way things are going to be.

I don't understand, this says two opposing things. So which is it, will things be reset or will it be permanently lost.

Exactly, what you do now you will get back when the game is in full swing.

the way i read this is when you're taking part in early access you can purchase stuff in a normal way and use your mc and add mc. there can be resets during this period. Once open beta starts everything will be wiped clean again and you get all the mc you purchased in the closed beta back on your account. everything you spend from this point on will not be refunded.

edit: what has changed is the fact there will be a wipe when the game goes open beta. This was not the case shortly ago. The reason will proly be balance so the founders don't start with a huge advantage compared to the non founders and thus whiping the floor with the new players because of a tricked out atlas etc etc

In closed beta, spend your MC like candy as you're going to get it back (and lose what you bought) at every reset. In particular, note that a final reset has been guaranteed as we move to open beta.

In open beta, spend your MC wisely... and hope that your purchases don't get nerfed by balance tweaks.

In release, spend your MC wisely, but secure in the knowledge that the only thing that will nerf your choices is the availability of new tech... which can be predicted.

Hmm... they'll need a mechanism for balancing new tech as it enters the game (it should be better than old tech of course - if only in giving more options - but shouldn't be really overpowered). It'll be interesting to see how they manage that...

when the founders enter is still CLOSED BETA. Stuff can/will be reset during closed beta, and if you spend your MC it will be reset.

when they move to OPEN BETA, no more resets and and spending is permanent.

To bad final reset isn't at release. Hopefully open beta to release is short.
