I don't want to spend $55 for 5 Mechs when I only want the hero version.

You can wait until it is released for MC then. Cause Hero variant is a bait for people to buy the packs early on, and PGI would not change it.

You do realize that the mech releases (C-bills or MC) for this pack is almost a year to a year+ away?

Yes, and mech pack's the price to pay for early access. You want Hero only, you wait. That's PGI's business model.

I waited, cause I didn't wish to buy packs.

Unless you stop buying mechpacks, PGI will do what they think they can get away with, even if that means making the value proposition worse.

It won't change until the whale's spending habits change.

Why would I stop buying what has the most value?

The problem with that is that over time, it'll be "pay to gain advantage" when the mech in question may be imbalanced on its initial release. The longer that period, the worse it'll be (with the additional issue that people that cling to that main advantage complain about the nerfs). I mean, it's nice comp play avoids this, but it'll be a lingering thing in the public queues.

Yes, and that plays into PGI's business model well, even if PGI didn't intend it to be like that. "Pay to win for several months depending on the chassis" is the norm now. PGI ain't gonna change that.

Eventually it's not going to build positive/good will over time. Sure you can keep milking that cow, but eventually things can dry up when you need it most.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. I personally can't say for certain, cause people keep buying mechpacks.
