Yes, I understand - we all want to get new maps.
But while we are waiting for them - we can get new feelings of playing on the familiar maps by making them mirror copies.
It's easy to do and it does not require a lot of work. We - the players will get a large pack of updated maps and new feelings of playing on them.

One of the idea i was having about duplicate map was the Mechwarrior IV - Vengeance method : You create very big map, and when you drop on that terrain, the fight and the area of the map takes place in small areas within the very big map. The solo mode (story mode) was like that in Mech IV.
So the team who creates map, create big terrain that can be subdivise in something like 4-6 maps. It's a gain of time and maps for everyone. And it's create some diversity : When people vote for a map, they will not know in wich part of the map they will drop. Maybe it should be possible to have different playstyles depending of the area of the map. For example the city map on Mech IV was having a big garden like central park : a LRM Friendly and sniper zone. Rest of the map was streets with a more brawly style of fights.
Get the picture ?
It should help to make a lot more maps. Right now, it should be use on very big maps like Polar Highland.

isn't it like start on the other side of a map?
and while we're at it, can we get the old forest colony, mordor and frost something back? let us have both old and new vesrions of the maps. sure, we'll not be able to play incursion and domination on them, but we have other maps for incursion, and old versions will be able for assault, conquest and skirmish. cool, right? and not too much of a coding to do.

The asymmetrical map design has always killed any possibility of having balanced objective based game modes.

Mirrored maps? It seems to me that most of us know the maps well enough that we would not get any substantially different experience playing on mirrored maps..
The biggest thing they can ever do to maps is to have them procedurally generated..
Create some blocks that are static, like buildings or city blocks, and then add completely random blocks of a terrain type around them..
Most of the planets can be just wilderness, it would not matter.. as long as the maps were massive, and different every time..

id like to see fewer cheap solutions. stop encouraging pgi to keep making minimally viable content. they will do it.
