Hey all,
I've been keeping an eye on all the reports of server and connection issues in the recent days, but so far our servers aren't reporting anything unusual on our end; the connection issues aren't happening at our data center or in its immediate area, they're happening somewhere further along the chain between your computer and our servers.
To help shed some light onto why this all might be occurring (strong 'might', mind you), I've linked an outage map below for Level3, one of the largest internet 'backbone' providers. If Level3 is having issues, and you're on Comcast, AT&T, Time Warner, any of the other big ISPs, or any of their million subsidiary ISPs, Level3's issues are very likely to become your issues. Depending on your location, these problems might be intermittent; they might only be noticeably impacting your connection to the MWO NA servers due to the way your ISP is routing to our servers in Montreal.

While these outage maps aren't always 100% reliable, they do provide a decent window into the frequency and location of outage reports coming in; particularly when there's a lot.
After checking out the Level3 map, check out the maps below for Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon. You'll notice some of the same hotspots and outage patterns as you saw with Level3. This is (potentially) because all of these ISPs are relying on Level3 infrastructure to varying degrees in various places, whether directly or indirectly, or they're simply having similar issues in the region.

We're going to keep monitoring things on our end in the event that there's any indication we can help alleviate any issues, but at this stage the issues are appearing beyond our control. If you're having any connection issues I strongly recommend contacting your ISP to find out if they can provide you with any information. If your ISP claims nothing is amiss, feel free to get in touch with our tech support at technical@mwomercs.com if you haven't already done so and we can get some connection diagnostics from you.

I suppose that might be because other people in my match were lagging, but that doesn't explain the mechlab lag.

a] Spawning in the Sky
b] Spawning frozen half way in the sky and still in the Dropship momentarily.
c] A dissconected medium mech that proceeded to accelerate to what we guessed was about 200Kph
d] A lot of the usual related stuff like rubber banding and mass dissconects.
I never get this stuff but the last week or so its been every day (not every match I must point out thought however)

Edit - I read through the quoted post above and I guess this is an issue of NA traffic to Montreal or something. Well... I guess it's time to take a break and play something that ISN'T hosted in Montreal. No worries.

How, exactly, does PGI fix major issues in Chicago? Seattle? Northern California? Florida? East Coast? United Kingdom?
Please explain as you know this is most certainly PGI's problem alone and not part of a wider issue.
Waiting on pins and needles for your enlightening answer.

Some companies have more infrastructure ($$) to help mitigate the current issue by offloading traffic through other routes and hosts.
Complaining to PGI about this, is the same as complaining to your local mom&pop diner that it took an extra 30mins drive due to construction, and that they should do something about it.

Playing on non US servers makes a difference.
And a speed test during intermittent problems and your able to conclude it's PGI?
Sherlock Holmes got nothing on you. With sound deductive reasoning, who can doubt such results.

The simple answer to why you are not seeing problems to other sites is because they are hosted in different locations than MWO. I am pretty sure any other services in that datacenter are seeing similar issues.

so why would i contact my isp ? if its a problem with where MWO is hosting? even if its a problem there how is contacting my ISP gonna do a damn thing about it. Shouldnt PGI be making phone calls if thats the case? Still making it PGI's issue. I dont understand why they would encourage people to mass contact ISP when they wont be able to help anyway.

I've only experienced minimal lag issues at MWO for the past week, and normal ping times. I've experience almost exactly the same level of normal ping/slightly higher lag at Cryptic's servers somewhere down by Boston or Atlanta (iirc). (Star Trek Online and Neverwinter Online)
On all three games, players are complaining about lag, although there are significantly more complaints about higher lag levels (eg. unplayable) in MWO than the Cryptic games.
If it's a 'server' issue, it pretty much affects everyone on that server (ie, NA, EU or Oceania). If it's a connectivity issue, then it's probably a connection point between you and PGI.
Even though it's for another game (LotRO), this thread had good advice for diagnosing connection problems:
https://www.lotro.co...dated-1-19-2016
If someone has a similar link specifically for MWO/PGI that might come in handy.

No the problem is not where pgi is hosted. The problem is getting their. PGI does not own the equipment between you and the servers. Calling your ISP will let them know there is a problem, of course since this a level 3 problem and they are one of the largest internet backbone providers in the us they obviously know there is an issue.
