So, Why Is Pew Pew 200 Damage And Kapow Is 500 Damage?

Meanwhile the Kapow challenge requires 500 damage with a very high cooldown weapon that doesn't spread its damage at all, so even if you do really well you might actually kill targets too fast and then on top of that you need to do more damage than you did with a bunch of small lasers that can be boated on a fast light mech; even with dual gauss that definitely sounds harder to do.
Note that it doesn't really matter to me, since both challenges are pretty easy, I'm mostly just bored and wanted to point out what I observed.
Another note to gauss charge whiners that this is not an admission that gauss rifles are difficult to use (because they aren't, get over it) and my only point is that the Pew Pew challenge was much easier to do than the Kapow challenge will be.

I'd say for I don't know someone who doesn't normally use gauss period on any of their mechs or who doesn't pilot clan mechs and therefore is incapable of exploiting the inherently better damage their weapon systems have will find all of the inflict damage events harder.
Not saying it's undoable but acting like it's a complete non issue because it doesn't shake up your day to day at all while other's might have to rebuild a mech just for the event is fairly narrow minded.

Pew pew was 200 because the Inner Sphere SL is butt cheeks, and few mechs can boat a crap ton of them.
Dual Gauss is 30 damage at a time. Do the math.

Obviously gauss rifles are stronger and more effective overall, but my point was that getting 200 damage while boating a bunch of low cooldown lasers that spread damage is a lot easier than getting 500 damage with a high cooldown projectile weapon that doesn't spread damage.
There are also at least a few different Inner Sphere chassis that can boat small lasers reasonably well, like the LCT-1E, FS9-A & FS9-K, JVN-11A if you happen to have bought it, BJ-1X, and HBK-4P to name some (probably most or all) examples, and of course you had the option to just do it with Clan mechs instead if IS small lasers are really so bad that you can't get 200 damage with them fairly easily.

If you have a Gauss mech, it shouldn't take you more than 5 matches tops. I mean all you have to do is hit 7 times per match for those 5 matches to hit 500 damage.
The hardest challenges are going to be:
Faction Play Victory Challenge - Challenge starts at 8pm EST and I have to be in bed by 10pm EST for work the next day. Then consider you have que times to deal with followed by matches that last 25-30 mins each, means if I am lucky, I will have 5 opportunities to win 2 matches. This one should have been a weekend or multiday challenge.
Scouting Victory Challenge - Same issue as with the Faction Play Victor Challenge, you have to Win 5 times though at least you get two days. That bad thing about this one is the pay out is a big one. Warhorn and 300k C-bills.

While it does mean you don't smear lasers on the terrain, most of the time the spread damage from lasers mostly means that you are hitting the mech but the damage is spread out on the mech's components. If you're talking about hitting fast little buggers (e.g Locusts) while piloting a relatively slow mech then yeah it can be a problem to also smear lasers on the terrain and miss the target, which I do myself sometimes since I'm not perfect, but most of the time it's just spread out on the mech and that actually makes it easier to get a higher damage score usually since damage score doesn't care about efficiency.
It also means that you don't miss your shots completely if they don't initially land, unlike gauss rifles.
The other thing to consider as well is that we're talking about small lasers in particular here, and even the C-ER SL doesn't have what I would call a particularly long burn duration, so smearing lasers on the terrain should probably not have been a problem for most people doing the challenge.
Either way I'm sure the Kapow challenge will still be pretty easy and it's not like I'm bringing up an important issue, I just thought it was interesting enough to maybe have a minor discussion about.
