Kickstart New Maps

They can't directly sell maps, since it would fracture the community but maybe there is another way for them to justify the investment.
They could use a crowdfunding platform, like kickstarter, where the community could show their support for new maps monetarily.
To encourage people to donate to the crowdfunding campaign, they could be rewarded those who pledge with in game items from unique decals to unique mech skins, depending on the amount donated.
This would be a benefit to all, PGI would have help funding new maps (since they don't generate income directly) while giving the general community new maps, which the game needs to stay fresh.

Or they could just stop making everything else cause it has been a total $hitshow for the past year.... InfoWar, Energy Draw, Skill Maze, Escort, Incursion, CW 3/4/4.1 like seriously JUST STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!! Keep making mechpaks and make us new maps, that is the sole capability that PGI has shown to be capable of and I would settle for them to stop making the game worse and at least give us more maps. I would start spending money again if they would do just that... I have suggested starting a New Map fund for months now.

That money is being wasted on their "designing new features" that are horrible and the community has rejected repeatedly... and spent on MW5. All I want PGI to ever do again is make a new Map and a new Mechpak every month... that is the best possible result given PGI capacity at game design.

Please no. They still have plenty of quality of life improvements they need to add. Stuff like colorblind support and HTAL.

They are not going to do those anyways... so lets settle for them not making it worse. I am dreading the SNAFU that new tech is going to bring when they move the timeline... since PGI only has 2 reactions Ignore Forever (if it favors Clan) & Instant Nerf into Oblivion (if it favors IS).

I'm going to keep holding out hope that PGI finally adds a basic feature that should be in every single modern game before they finally shut down. That's my campaign to lead. I won't give up on PGI yet on that front.

Sometimes later this year they might maybe have perhaps a new map or two. Most probably.

Going by the latest roadmap, the next map will be coming out roughly one full year after the Terra Therma rework was released back on October 18, 2016. The Huntsman was released on that patch, as well. Coincidently, that was the last Mech pack I bought, because I'm fairly salty over the lack of maps in game.

This.
And Cry-engine famously has a real time map editor too. Just what coding horrors have they achieved that make map design so difficult all of a sudden.

People working in a basement have the same skill as anyone else. There is still costs even if they are given a map.
Programmers have to put it I to the game. Testers have to test it. 2d graphics have to be made, maps have to be fixed when. They have issues. Walls have to be made and so on.
But yes lots of games have put out tools to allow players to mod games and it does work good. PGI doesn't want this because they want full control they said.

I would crowd fund mwo 2.0 on a new engine with more than 24 players with others features .

Give it up people. They do not generate tangible income and are resource hogs. This game is on life support as PGI continues to milk the IP while they have it.
Kickstarting, crowd sourcing, whatever still requires in-house resources no matter where the money comes from. You have a better chance of seeing god...or Russ on these forums.
