The head thing would always be bad. Any elevation difference and I can pick your CT, easy. It is going to have to ditch the dish or it is gonna be trash.

I doubt that they are going to ditch the radar since it's apart of the classic artwork on all versions. If they go with the reseen concept, it's not going to be much larger than the mech's head hit box. Even if they go with the classic look from the Rick Harris rendition, I still doubt that the dish is going to be a problem. The closest thing I can relate the dish design to what we have in game is the flat top of the Warhawk. Functionality wise, I don't see that mech constantly getting destroyed by LRM's since LRM's can be countered in many ways.

I think you might be over reacting to the latest patch of how PGI buffed LRM's just recently. We will see how the art department handles the over all mech design before we start screaming that the sky is falling.

Does anyone know what's going on with the image code? I'm trying to upload images to my thread and every source from Imgur and post image is giving me the generic "You are not allowed to post images from that site" error message. Is PGI's site getting hacked or ddosed atm?

Edit: That was very odd. Now it worked.

I do think that the hat of it should be shrunken like the re-seen art

It really depends what the art team and how Alex wants to handle the mech. Here I did a comparison of a Warhawk posted from another thread discussing hit boxes:

Posted Image

Compared to a frontal view concept fan art with a smaller dish with some very rough guesstimation of where the head hitbox separates from the side torsos with the radar dish:

Posted Image

With the red lines being any indication of the head hit box and the orange lines being the side torsos, even with the larger radar dish it would still extend into the side torso regions. While I see the argument of how the radar dish could be a LRM sponge, PGI could simply counter this by giving the RFL-IIC durability or LRM resistance quirks around it's head region. And since we are on the topic of this mech again, I'll bump this thread with some new cool lego stuff I recently saw out there when I was getting some ideas:

I like how this person followed the original concept art of the mechwarrior pilots being stationed inside the center torso of the mech. It was theorized that the head of the Rifleman IIC acts like an electronic camera view port in the discussions over on the battletech website.

The Warhammer IIC and Rifleman IIC would be the only mechs I would buy for the clans.

Not just LRMs - any direct fire weapon when you have a bit of an elevation difference. You've got a big section of torso available from any angle. It makes the Dire look like a shy nun for protecting its boobies and sensitive bits.

It depends how thin they decide to make the radar dish. With a thinner profile it's not going to make much of a difference from any frontal, side, or rear elevation views. The support pylons that rest on the side torsos will have a smaller profile from the front/back view. Side views of the support pylon might be a different story depending on what direction they take the artwork. The Rifleman IIC has options and alternatives to it's artwork so it really depends how the art team will tackle it.

I honestly don't believe the radar and it's support pylons are going to be much of an issue. The mech has great hard point geometry were hill peaking with jump jets will be a viable alternative to many of it's load outs. Not to mention it has 11 tons of ferro fib armor and standard engine options to tank with.

If you are really worried about the geometry of radar dishes, then you better hope the Glass Spider (Galahad) never drops in game. That thing really has no alternatives to any of it's artwork with it's helicopter landing pad of a radar dish.

TBH I'd much prefer the Galahad than the Rifleman IIC.

Here is a suggestion for you Ivan. If you have a mech that you actually want, then make an Awareness Thread about it and get people talking. It doesn't matter if your pet mech is a Stone Rhino, Black Python, Warhammer IIC, etc. I will be more than happy to find some time-wise variants for you and give out their specs if need be.

The only reason I want to see the mech is because of nostalgia and seeing the Alex's interpretation of it's conical hat/sombrero. Also because the HG lawsuit is over hopefully, we can see it since it is a VMI mech like the Warhammer IIC. Those are the only to mechs I would like to see for the Clans.

if the head piece functioned as a separate hit box that could be destroyed separate the mech "actually working as intended as a "buffer" for missiles and LRMs..." i think it would work great.
