I'm just not willing to put myself in so many crappy IS Mechs.
Did you look at the new Annihilator?!?!
To slow with a size 300 engine cap!
Get Real.
Okay, I want Balance and Here is how we can get it.
Let us play whatever Mechs we want and be in whatever House/Faction we want.
If your in a Mad Cat MkII and playing for Steiner, just think of it as a Captured Mech.
Do this and I will start playing Faction War again.
Done.
P.S. I do have a few IS Mechs I like but I seem to like the Clan Mechs more.

This mech want to talk to you about being slow....
Also you just want qp in FW, or a thing called being a merc?

To be fair getting a 300 engine cap was a huge buff to the Annihilator... if she had followed the standard engine rules her cap should've been 240 (200*1.2)....
That being said, 50-ish km/h still isn't going to be her biggest problem, that's going to be the low weapon mounts in relation to the height of the cockpit. This means your CT is going to be exposed to incoming fire, before you can return fire, like the Archer's (and Uziel's) problem with high weapons and low cockpit.....

right but that problem is amplified even more by being slow and having bad acceleration. it makes it take that much longer to crest over hills.
if there was only one bad thing the annihilator, it would still be okay. its really a combination of multiple bad things that make it dead on arrival.
it would take atlas-level armor/structure quirks just to make the annihilator into a mediocre mech. I mean it worked for the Atlas, but the Atlas can also take a 325-350 engine... IMO the annihilator's 300 engine cap is gonna prevent it from ever being better than a Tier3 mech, and thats with atlas-level quirks.

I think it would take greater than Atlas level armour quirks... it's just a perfect storm of bad, that I think it's going to be a mech we see for a week or two, then it'll get shoved into the same corner of the mechlab that holds mechs like the Kintaro, Vindicator and Mist Lynx...

At least it will pad my damage scores.

as long as youre a half decent player, pretty much any heavy or assault can pad your damage scores in quickplay, thats not saying much lol.

Is that a real thing? Can I switch to Mercenary status and play in FW on any side I want?
I do not recall seeing that... looking into it now.
That could be the key to my interest in FW again.

You can change to Mercenary, then take short term Contracts with any faction you want. You can jump to a different Clan/House every week.

It's going to be a mech, that some will find fun, likely in River city where it can hide with the buildings, but other than that it is likely going to be too vulnerable in any other map... much like the king crab she is an A2/AD tool, not a front-line combat unit.

Guess I am just sadistic then, because I like my autocannon-ladden Direwolves.

'cept the Dire Wolf does everything the Annihilator can do, and do it better...
Lighter kit, less convergence issues, better cockpit to weapon mount spacing..... Yea the Annihilator is really going to make the Dire Wolf look awesome.
As for being a sadist... well I did master Locusts pre rescale.... I also enjoy my XL Bushwacker X2....

Quad single-slug AC/10, hex-RACs, and it will probably get quirks. Like I said, fun... Not something to sweep the faction play map with. And the nightstar will obsolete the Anni in all but the 6x ballistics applications, but I will still use it, anyways.

I don't find being a points pinata for others without much of a recourse a thrilling concept, sorry. I'd like to not gimp myself more than my skill already does by itself.

I mean, it's a cool mech. I'd reeeaaallly hesitate to call it a good mech, though. It is what it is and, hey, the people wanted it. So they got it! Yay on them for getting something they wanted. Bit late to whine about it being a slug though.
