I'm still trying to figure out if this post is supposed to be some sort of satire of overblown histrionics over non issues.

I mean there's not a single thing the OP is complaining about that hasn't always been true of this game due to its complicated and intuitive nature. That and the time and money wasted in trial and error has always been eaten far more effectively by the mechlab than the skill tree ever will.

Or you could check out the literally dozens of trees and examples, with explanation and summary, in threads like this one:

https://mwomercs.com...t-with-winners/

Then post a thank-you to Bud Crue for sponsoring it at the end of the thread. So other people can see it too.

These are the players of the thinking mans FPS, Mechwarrior Online. Their five-year mission: to explore strange new game mechanics, to seek out new bugs and new things to complain about, to boldly make worse builds than anyone has seen before.

What!?
"A thinking man's shooter"?! Really!!? That is so 2014.

Wake up Rip Van winkle Its 2017! As of last year you are in the forums of an e-sport! No mere game. No mere shooter. This is an E-sport!

And e-sports, like real sports, take extreme dedication, intense training regimens, absolute devotion to the the sport and winning it. E-sports are not for casual participation (alas, sorry OP). E-sports take study and devotion and a thorough understanding of every aspect of the game sport down to the tiniest most subtle of minutia...like knowing where every single node of your 91 nodes can be optimally selected for every single mech and weapons combination potentially available in the game. Surely like, me you have full dossiers on every single one of the 33,743 players so that you can learn their habits, know their routines, know how all of them play and how to take advantage of their tendencies. You don't? Well my friend, you better get busy, cuz if you intend to compete in this e-sport you better know thy enemy and be prepared to crush them, at all times and at all costs.

MWO is not a "game"; it is no mere "thinking man's shooter"? No my friend, This "shooter" is home of the highest skilled tournament in all of E-sports! How can you be expected to compete if you don't even make an attempt at mastering every aspect of the game, the mechs, the skills trees, and full knowledge of the other players?! How!? Well, if you are unwilling to put in a little effort then I guess this e-sport isn't for you now is it?

Now you run along with the OP and his casual ilk and play your little "game", your little "shooter". While you kids are "playing" us high minded competitors, with our lightning fast reflexes, copious amounts of study dedicated to absolute dedication and mastery of every aspect of its underlying mechanics and systems, will be competing as if our very lives were at stake in the brutally competitive environment of this...the ultimate e-sport!

Surprisingly some people are actually having a blast, my roommate loves tweaking his kitfox for that perfect combo of speed, heat, armor, sensors. I think it might be that we were just used to 12 static fillers since 2012 and meta based on base quirks.

Hey guys cut him some slack!

I would be angry at the sight of the skill tree if I had autism too!

So I've not been playing the game for awhile, and wanted to just log in and play a few games. And I saw these so called skill trees.

I mean, I got in it after I watched a guide on YouTube. And I understood, I wouldn't play MWO anymore. Because you now gotta make a lot of choices about, what way to build your certain mech. And then test it. And if you did it wrong, you'd have to rethink and do it again. And then test it. And then think it over and rebuild it again. And then test it. And then... yeah, sorry I don't have any time for this ****, I just wanna play a few games... I mean, I don't wanna play them anymore, **** it all.

I know dude. It's literally crazy.

Like, what the hell does 'velocity' mean under firepower? Where's the guide to tell us whether to use it?
Or, 'LBX spread reduction', that's super confusing too. How the hell are people supposed to know whether they need it?

And don't get me started on 'Torso Speed.' I'm not a darned nuclear physicist!

Way too confusing and impossible. Takes hours to even figure out what 'Range' means and if I need it to shoot farther.

Stupid Skill Tree! I'm not a rocket scientist!

I quit!
