Not trying to bypass anything, heck even if I could just switch it to another variant of the same chassis. But the stock hunchback is the most lackluster of the 4. And I bet if you looked at your sales for elites, and checked which mechs were picked, it would go Atlas=Catapult>>Jenner>>>>>>>>>>Hunchback.
Also wasent trying to come off rude, thanks for the reply.

Besides, imho the AC 20 Hunchback is the better variant in my opinion. Swayback with all lasers is to unflexible for me and I hate missiles. So I'd pick the AC 20 Variant all day.

Personally I would swap out the ac 20 for a gauss or mabye a lower calibre version. Dont knwo just seems sad to have the bonus and never use it for some who dont like the stock loadouts. Oh well I can always run around in my atlas and make money to buy the version with missiles. Just wont have as cool a skin.

I had a pretty good idea that was not going to happen when I bought, so I'm ok with the limitation.
Once they crack that door, its a hard door to get shut again, so I don't blame them for setting limits.

Granted that's completely my opinion and subject to anyone's experience. Yours is just as valuable.

I'm happy with what has been given..... BUT.... IF the Devs wanted to, an option could be for Legendary Founders only, to pick 1 (one) variant of the 4 mechs listed, and Only that mech would have the bonus..... otherwise, way too unbalanced.....
<The above has been the opinion of the poster, only the poster, and is not the opinion of the Devs, PGI, MWO, or the majority of the planet and the BT/MW universe.... We return you to your regularly scheduled forum, already in progress...>

Look at it as an incentive to play the mech in its iconic form (after all most of the variants came about after the game first launched ).

Also, nikolai makes in interesting point if weapons cannot be changed.
And SyberSmoke makes me ask the question, since it seems to be a point of confusion: when you have a variant, given that the weapons would still be able to change, what would be the static aspect (the constraints) of a particular variant?

Variants will have three common constraints: Tonnage, Critical Spaces, Hard Points (Not in Battletech Rules, added for balance).
So as stated we will take prime Hunchy vs Swayback Hunchy. These two will have the same tonnage (Some mechs have uptoned variants) and Critical's, What will vary is hard points. The Core Variant will have hard points for ballistic weapons where the AC/20 goes. So all you can cram in there are ballistic weapon.
The Swayback will have enough hard points for all the Energy weapons, but will have none for ballistics since the Swayback will be mounting 6 Medium Lasers in its right torso.
Thing is the hard points are not limited to a set weapon (AC/20) so if you want to take the AC/20 out and you have an LBX AC/10, you can slap that in. If there are two hardpoints, you could also put in say a couple Ultra AC/5's into the right torso. The mechs are very customizable...you just need to play with it when we get access.
Oh and no, I am not in the beta. All of this is either based on the Battletech Mech types and variants from Sarna.net and public information. So it is safe to say the Swayback WILL have at least 6 energy hard points in the RT. :-)

The Lowe makes me credits but it is not that much fun to run (get it the right game and it rocks BTW)
So if I need credits I run the Lowe
If I want to make less credits and play others that works too
