Well, you can turn the standard hunchie into a laserboat as well. Remove the AC20, put a PPC in each arm and you're done! Extra tonnage you get from removing the AC20 ammo can be put into heatsinks, but it would probably still have heat problems. :P At least with the hunchie shown in the mechlab it was possible, but I heard they made some changes to it since people were running around with 8 MLs. (Not in beta, just heard this in previous topics)

Thanks for the concise and detailed answers, Granimal and Sybersmoke.

PS: Granimal: Sybersmoke did one up you on the grammar, lol.

If the skill progression requires you to start with the Prime Variants, why worry about the alternatives? The Founder's Program is to support the game, not to get super-mechs.

The Hunchback with a AC20 was one of my first models for table top, so I'll enjoy city fighting with the stock variant provided and have fun!

Yes I agree! I am a huge fan of the K2 Catapult. I'd love to have a beaked K2K customized with my favorite paint scheme!!

The Founder's bonus is meant to be a gift to the founders. Not a way to bypass the metagame.

If that's the case Paul, then how about integrating an option down the road to buy with C-Bills the variants on our founder's mechs. That way noone is bypassing the metagame, but we can still keep the snazzy beautiful unique models on our variant chassis.
Naturally, I'm lobbying for this due to wanting that gorgeous Catapult founder's beak on the K2.

I wouldnt have a problem with founders choosing ONE variant for their founders mech. But they shouldnt get ALL variants.

It would've been nice if everyone had a choice of founders mechs. still limit the amount, but have every mech have a founder's version available for picking.

So say I buy legendary and dont want the jenner or the catapult but i'd like a founders spider or founders cataphract instead, i would like the option to do so.

I didn't realized it untill now that i will need several atlases in garage to unlock full tech tree. It is bad that i cannot play on founder's all the time. It reduces minor c-bill bonus even more.
Damn cats in the bag they always tend to dissapoint.

This would be difficult for the devs because as you can tell founders mechs have slightly different models and vastly different textures than regular battlemechs. The current line up has light, medium, heavy, and assault. One of each class. Seems good to me. Although I'd change my mind for a founders Hatamoto-Chi :)

HEY! Just be thankful you have a Battlemech like that. Do you know what I would do with even a Jenner Founder? I'd make sure to use it every goddam|ntime.

The K2 is a simple mod from the C1 - so it would be easy to change in the mechlag with out knowing the specifics of the hardpoints -- upgrading two of the ML to PPCs, ditching the LRMs and adding HS and viola. The Hunch is a little iffier, but it has 3 lasers, so tossing the AC20 and going two two PPC/ 1 ML or 3 LL or 1 PPC/ 2MPL

Yes, there fully modable versions of the prime just using a different base model

There is one other thing that I have not seen yet mentioned in the thread, that is worth hearing. The biggest reason I see for limiting the founders options is because they need to have things for people to buy in the store. Premium versions of all mechs & varients are a good option for this. I don't plan on using my Founders hunchback very much, I picked it because I see myself using it more than any of the other Founders mechs. However If I can spend the $80 credit on premium mechs, I'll happily drop much of it on premium Trebuchets with bonuses similar to the Founder's mechs.

I see the founders mechs as just the First limited edition Premium mechs, but by no means the last, the free to play model will see to that. I just hope that each premium edition gives a unique paint job, and only convenience bonuses (like cbill boosters in the founders mechs) but no in game edge.

K2 replaces LRM with PPC.. in the C1 variant ingame the LA/RA have missile not energy hardpoints.. PPC in LT/RT isn't the same as K2 because the K2 has Medium lasers/Machine guns in LT/RT in addition to PPC in LA/RA.. this is MWO specific due to weapon hardpoints.

No. The Founders Catapult is the C1. This is the same for all Founder's variants. They are the 'prime' variant of each chassis.

However, there's nothing stopping you from using your Founder's MC money to buy the K2.

I hope that I have solution for the problem (provided that PGI accept it .
In one of the topics it was mentioned that "estimated" value of the robot with founders skin AND c-bill boost is ~$15. So my suggestion is simple - allow for all founders an option to purchase ANY variant of ANY mech they like by $15 ( obviously this variant will still bear founders skin and still get c-boost ) . I could bet that this would bring quite a few extra founders to the game as well

It's easy to create some extra rules to cover situations with already owned variants beging purchased by $15 etc. But it's not as important as main decision - could this be done or not ?
