Map heat mainly varies from -0.5 to +0.3 with +0.5 for Terra Therma, bar from few special map locations. Such modifier, when calculating Heat Dissipation, is so small that it should change because extra +0.3 heat equals simply two Clan Double Heat Sinks. And what are two Clan Double Heat Sinks for bigger mech? Nothing. So for example it could change to at least +0.75 for current +0.3 maps and +1.0 for Terra Therma. Just to force some sort barely seen mech build diversity. Comments?

I think it would be interesting to take the most liked maps in the game (Canyon, HPG, and Plexus come to mind) and make them hot maps. Hotter than Terra Therma.

Would they still be the most liked maps in the game, or would people suddenly hate them because they think temperature is more important than map design?

I don't mind the idea of variations in heat across maps personally, its the kind of thing you love/hate in the moment, but it does add extra levels of depth to the systems. Going to far with it could be dangerous though so I am really not sure where the healthy balance lies there.

Another interesting side to it is the "hot zones" on certain maps where if you are standing them (in lava of therma or the peak of caustic etc), you suffer increased heat and/or damage, which could be utilised further in ways to break up maps and combat zones etc in interesting ways.

For that matter other environmental effects could be interesting to see too, depending on their nature.

A lot of lasers are getting nerfed in the patch, so you can already expect to see fewer of certain laser types anyways.

Great Idea. It will make it whole lot easier when map voting comes around to just click Polar and Frozen over and over.

That's like saying that people don't vote Escort/Incursion because those modes are too hard to understand.
