I asked in the announcement post, haven't seen anything in regards to;

Energy weapon ranges, did they change at all or will they stay the same?

One of the biggest distinctions is the huge range gap between IS and clan lasers, and many of the laser ranges were questionable, ERML only having some 40 or 60m bonus range on a cMPL for example. I wonder if they forgot to tell us about changes here too which would make a pretty large difference overall.

Ranges were untouched for all laser weapons.

That would be a little sad IMO, and with these changes but the same ranges, I am a little confuse as to how it will play out really. I really though pulse ranges for clan were going to come down, and ER lasers for all come up, at MORE burn cost, that was what it sounded like reading before looking at the exact changes.

Eh, what do I know Posted Image we shall see how it goes soon enough.

Well with the Clan Heavy Lasers coming next month and having pretty much the same ranges as the Normal IS lasers, I don't see why ER or Pulse laser ranges on either side would be increased or decreased at all.

Well the ER range increase I was thinking more on the ER medium and small ranges, which barely seem ER at all, and conversely, with the clan LPL and MPL ranges, which against normal and er laser ranges, are freaking massive by comparison at least.

It always seemed a bit weird to me.

Well, the IS Small Laser already has the TT range of the IS ERSL. We don't really have much room to buff the range of the IS ERSL since PGI will always make it have less range than the CERSL, so that means somewhere between 150-200 in the current stats. That range gap is not large enough to properly differentiate roles.

The IS SL should have gotten the heat slashed all the way down to just 1, damage buffed to 3.5, and range reduced to something like 120m so that the range gap between ER and regular SL can be much larger. This also lets the IS ERSL sit at 2 heat rather than some weird decimal between 1.7-3.0.

Yeah, I can agree with that.

The whole ER thing has always irked me a little I guess, the range on everything but the ERLL hardly seems worth it.
