If PGI wants to increase TTK so much (so we can all deathball again like the old days...) I have a thought.

Why not make all mechs unable to equip anything but varieties of nerf guns? I mean, seriously...nerf darts would do NO damage to mechs like this, and you could clearly see you hit a mech because there would be a little yellow dart stuck to the exterior for the duration of the match! Hell, we could even invent games where people deliberately try to collect the most nerf darts without dying...(which, let us face it...you would have to kill yourself by walking off of tall drop offs to take out your legs...).

TTK would be at an all time high with this new weapon system!!!

Not to mention everyone who complains that you do not play objectives would finally have a chance to do so! You could play bumper mech in laser fences and try to block out the cockpit on other mechs with your nerf darts!

Incursion could cause problems, but likely not...since the turrets in incursion can only kill mechs that would die if someone looked at them funny anyway. Since nerf darts would not hurt armor, all matches would last the full duration!

You could body block the escort Atlas too...it would look like a Rugby scrum with a bunch of mechs on both sides trying to push the pile.

Cbill earnings would go way down too, since no one would ever die. That would make Paul so happy...he might soil his shorts!

This would be a GREAT idea, right guys? Guys...? ...?

Assaults were usually just left behind the NASCAR. Now they can't even turn right or catch up to NASCAR.

Don't forget to buff global durability by 30% while you're at it. Can't have anybody getting headcapped by darts.

But make sure you add more consumables. Triple strikes should be allowed. Because reasons.

The mechs equipped with Nerf Rival blasters would be OP though, especially the Nemesis.

So...would a single shot auto-cannon fire a really big nerf dart, and the UACs fire a sequence of smaller nerf darts, and LBX's fire a bunch of even tinier darts?

If so, and if the goal is to block out the enemy's cockpit view as Gyrok suggests, then perhaps we would finally have the partity between autocannons that PGI has been chasing for years. That being said, the single shot AC would still be superior in my eyes, as the comedic value of a giant nerf dart stuck to the face of an Atlas blindly stumbling about would far surpass that which might be provided by a bunch of smaller darts.

This would definitely enrich the fun value of this game. I wholeheartedly endorse this interpretation.

Just a random method of balancing is to let inmates run the asylum, except that we spent a patch month with potatoes dictating balance, with the next month with EmP (or other intelligent entities) to dictate balance. Rotate as necessary for derp.

That would be better than tomorrow's poopfest.

If you're tired of endless unhappy balance changes, it sounds like some of you might like DCS. All planes are as accurately modeled as possible, and it don't matter who or what is OP. You make your own balance or die trying, and realism reigns supreme over all other modeling considerations.

I teach you to fly DCS, you teach me to have fun in MWO. Deal?

To get to the point of this topic, at this point I really do think balance should be player driven. The problem is that the players will generally gravitate towards the strongest mechs, because they are so obsessed with winning, even if it's a huge stomp. They'd rather an easy win than a hard fought loss. I don't understand that when we're talking about a game. I like taking my F-5 vs Su-27s. I lose 3 out of 4 fights, but have way more fun than I do blasting the Flankers out of the sky with an F-15.

Oh, and the "lore" LBX's would be the Modulus Regulator with its select-fire ability (single shot, 3 round burst, full auto).

Warthog with 30mm Vulcan is the most impressive thing on the planet in terms of raw firepower from an aircraft.

You cannot "un-hear" something like that....
