I usualy shoot down doa thread but the Anni really looks to have crippling deficiencies.

It can still run a 300 engine. Though it won't be a speed demon, it will be workable.

As for clearing terrain, from the side, it won't be as much of an issue - and anyway, most of it's firepower will come from it's torso mounts, which look to be quite high - higher than the Cyclops at any rate. I think the arms will be used mostly for afterthought fire, or for weapons split down the middle. Side peek FTW. You could even make a shield side if you wanted to, and though the arms will be garbage for shielding, that potbelly might provide some stalker-itis in spreading damage.

All this is moot until we see scaling and hitbox size anyways. My gut tells me that it will indeed have issues with hill humping, but side peeking will be viable.

Also, that DPS. If something wants to stay and shoot at me while I bring all my weapons to bear, then let them. If I struggle against fast peeking enemies with high alphas, i'll just increase my own alpha... with dual heavy gauss, or some UAC10/20s.

You're right that PGI's pricing/rewards system is out of whack, but it's unlikely to change. File this next to "Omnimechs cost more just because" and "non-collectors don't count towards loyalty rewards".

I am running the black knight alot in anticipation of the annihilator. They both have craning high necks and harpoints down around their ankles.

Considering the annihilators inevitable agility suckage it is going to be really frustrating for alot of people who bought it. It will definitely be a glass cannon, no doubt.

And the Banshee? In terms of distance above the torso the Banshees head sticks up as much as the Anni does.

What hurts the Anni is the stalker STs, so twisting is a real problem. Arms don't cover you.

However, that usually comes with some serious structure/armor buffs.

Also, 5 RACs. Maybe 6.

Everything else is irrelevant.

You can do 6xRAC5, but it's a squeeze. 4 and a light peep or two looks to work better.

Or 6 rac2's+whatever

I've been restricting my gif flow for a number of reasons lately, with the main ones being that I'm in a slight gif drought (nothing serious, just can't be wasteful), and the fact that I'm a little worried that the amount of people with me on their ignore list is reaching critical levels. Anyways, on the subject of the Annihilator... TBH I'm not a huge fan of the more boxy look that they're giving her. I prefer smooth, somewhat fat, curves on her myself. But hey, despite my qualms about how effective she'll be, I need to get her eventually, just out of nostalgia.

Only works with RAC2s, unless you want the 200 engine.
And 6 RAC2s likely require a lot of face time. Good luck getting that face time with an Annihilator.

The Uziel's more of a throwback to the older Mechwarrior Games, not the battletech stories.

That said, I think the Annihilator's the same story. Which I hate, because there's far better or more iconic assaults than the Annihilator at everything except for sheer ballistic spam.

Well sure, the 100 tonner survives, but I am more concerned about the target allowing that face time, i.e. being shot (and, in case of the RACs, politely waiting for the RACs to spin up...). Escaping from a Daishi in game is not exactly difficult.

You have to set up shop in the middle of your team and just punish any enemies with dakka. I dont see too much build diversity for it, doesnt mean it wont be fun.

You see I think this right here is the problem. People are so used to these Tier 1 Super-Star-Meta mechs that anything less is automatically labeled as DOA.

And in a sense they're right.

Because of the piss poor objective based game modes in the game, every game mode is simply treated as team death match and everyone loads up on the best weapons to kill the other team the quickest and most efficiently. Which is of course a symptom of having "one life to live", and damage being weighted so heavily in the Match Score calculations.

If the game had a ticket re-spawn system, or even just a set number of kills to end the game, you know, like Battlefield or Call of Duty, where objectives are just as important as kills, sometimes more so, like CoD's "Kill Confirmed" mode, where kills only net you a small amount of points unless you pick up the enemies dog tags, which provide the bulk of the points.

But for MWO to change over to such a system, one that makes a lot more sense than what we currently have, is probably beyond PGI's abilities at this point.

Especially because such a system might actually make the game more fun.

And we can't have that now can we?

60tons+ ammo, workable if you don't need armor, or an engine, I'd say.

so it can be done with an std200 and single heat sinks aswell as ammo 6tons and armour (almsot full)...

You may want to calculate that again, and keep in mind critspace. I ran some SSW tests and 2x GR & 2x HGR only works with: STD 200, STD structure, LFF armour (6.5 tons, i.e. 35% armour protection), 4 tons of ammo. That's not sustainable in the field, in any way.
