LRM''s is why I stopped playing FW and on occasion I see this in QP. Yes AMS is the way to go unless you derp out your ECM in skills. However, if you pilot a mech that does NOT have ACM or even ECM, what are you supposed to do? DW anyone? Yes it does have a ACM Omni pod, but that's a freakin joke to use as it's good for that only and a complete waste. I have posted plenty of messages in regards to some mechs that are at a disadvantage after the skill tree change so wont go there. Maybe someday they will fix this. Don't get me wrong, LRM's have a use, it's just they are a bit too much for what they are being used for.
Hi, I'm that guy who loves to shoot people with LRMs.
I don't use AMS. Or ECM. Or Radar Dep, and I'm usually 500m or less from you when shooting.
I don't fear my own weapon system, because I've lived so long in a missile boat that cover and LOS is pretty much second nature.
And that's what you need to learn down at T5 where the newbies are planted. If you are getting lurmed to death, over and over again...the problem is not the LRM user.
It's you. You're positioning horribly out of cover lines, you're not twisting to absorb damage, you're not hanging around near available ECM. And the guy with the missiles is punishing you for making those mistakes. And the slower a whale you pilot, the more attractive you are to harpoon. It's why I tell most people "If you're new, an assault is a waste of your time and C-bills" as I watch yet another Dire Wolf, King Crab, or Atlas slowly klunk off to it's doom and if it's on the other side, to pad my score nicely as it gets bludgeoned to death.
You are an ideal target. A green pilot, and an assault pilot in a slowboat- and if I don't kill you, the lights generally will.
Get out of your giant target labled "DW" and stick to heavies, especially as a Clanner. The mobility will save your life and get you far better results with it's guns, as well.
