True, but the problem isnt programing the Penalties or even the Locked components,
the problem is the the UI and HUD work for adding in the 2 other Upgrade Tabs, and their Function,
in this case it wouldnt be hard to do, but perhaps time consuming as it would need development time,

You are assuming you know what the code base is like. The UI should be the easiest, the hardest would be refactoring the business logic surrounding gyros and engines. If they are separating their concerns correctly that is (since the UI really should just be calling existing business logic, not adding its own), otherwise it is all a mess.

@Quicksilver Kalasa,
im only stating the penalties or how they can work shouldnt be the biggest hurdle,
but more setting up the system to add those 2 upgrades, and their interactivity,
after that it could be a simple as Reference to parent coding and interfacing,

no i dont know how MWO is Programed, im just going off what i know with CryEngine,
yes it could be alot harder than i feel it is, and im in no way suggesting that this would be easy to implement,
what im saying is i feel it is with in PGIs power to make happen given development time put into this,

And what I'm saying, is that it most likely won't happen if it requires a decent amount of refactoring given the limited returns in this case. Sure, they would be nice, but I just don't see it happening.

I think a big issue is omnimechs would grow even weaker. Battlemechs are already bigger. Having extra space in the CT is a great boon.

I would like a compact gyro for my timby. The 1 slot ballastic hardpoint is so sad on a heavy.

If engine critting is implemented, you could theoretically kill a mech without having to completely destroy a torso component. How many of us have poured fire into a heavy or assault mech's open CT without actually destroying it because there's so many structure points? If you could crit the engine, you'd probably get three crits on an engine long before the open CT runs out of structure points.

I don't want a variant of engine critting that kills guys with random critical hits. I feel like that would be too swingy. My option just lets you damage the engine and gyro- smaller engines and gyros would be less vulnerable.

well im all for more OmniMech Buffs, but this is actually a Faction Base thing, not a Mech Base thing,
only IS have access to these things, as per the BattleTech Tournament rules,

and this would only add 1Ton/1Crit, for the Small Cockpit Upgrade at a Mobility Penalty,
and 0.5-2Tons for the XL-Gyro Upgrade at a -2Crit / Screen-shake penalty,

I wouldn't, spending 2 tons to gain 1 crit slot is absurd. Hell, I'd rather take an XL gyro and lose 2 crit slots so I could mount ballistics better on other sections....then again, you are in a Clan mech, so having that ability on top of everything else is just absurd.

well its actually 2Crits for 2Tons(for the Timber)
but as they take up 2Crits in the CT, it would have to make Room by getting rid of its Endo Slot Locked there,
so you would lose 3.5Tons & gain 7Crits, to gain 2Tons & lose 2Crits(Net Loss of 1.5Tons & Gain of 5Crits)

but all that really doesnt matter as this is a BattleMech Only Choice,
and a BattleMechs Only Choice for the Inner Sphere, so Clan Mechs cant take these Upgrades,

New Tech Reason to want Small Cockpits,

inability to Equip LaserAMS(Head Mounted) on BSWs,

as well as more Missile Options(Head Mounted) for SHDs, & GHRs,
more Laser Options(Head Mounted) for VNDs, CRBs, HBKs, WVRs, BL-KNTs, AWSs, & BNCs,

i think this would add in many new options and Benefit IS mechs Greatly,
also since its all Standard production Tech, their is no reason not to have it implemented,

if you havent already, please (VOTE), thanks, ;)

Also You freebirth barbarians already have enough quit whining. damn you you gave me a freaken flish flash.

um im mostly a clan only player, i only play some IS Lights and Mediums,
who this addion would benefit mostly is those mechs, IS Lights ad Mediums,

with both of these additions IS Lights and Mediums could see +1.5-2.5 Extra Tons(at penalties of course)
this would be huge for Ballistic and missile based lights, and perhaps we would then see more of them,
i dont see this changing energy based lights as you often run out of room for DHS before tonnage,

Hmm... I just thought of a huge nerf to Small Cockpits and may actually make players hesitant to take it AND is lore friendly to boot.

Okay, so Small Cockpits are 1 ton and 1 crit less than normal Cockpits, right? They get this by getting by with less life support equipment. And such life support includes keeping the PILOT from overheating when the mech does, and mechs overheat all the time in MWO.

So the nerf? When the mech gets hot and overheats, the mechwarrior gets sweaty. They get sweaty and that sweat evaporates... and condensates on the cockpit glass. IOW, the hotter a mech gets with a Small Cockpit, the harder it becomes to see because your UI is fogging up.

in TT its just described as a piloting penalty(due to cramped conditions)
so im thinking it would be a Mobility Penalty(maybe -10% accell/decell/turnrate)

but it could also be,
a Head Structure Penalty( -10Head Structure(leaving 5Structure left(23hp total with armor)
a Heat Damage Penalty( +10%OverheatDamage(opposite the NovaPrime CT Quirk)
a Heat Cap Penalty( -10%HeatCap(opposite the Skill Tree Node in operations)

An agility penalty is the right choice. None of the others have anything to do with piloting the 'Mech, and life support going halfway is a moot point, as we don't do pilot damage anyway and it certainly shouldn't mean the 'Mech melts faster.

I enjoy this concept quite allot. Personally i think clanners need more options as well, since they are severely limited. Would like to see ferro-lameller armor for clan, as well as small cockpit. Heat dissipating armor for both and compact engine/gyro for is.

And is omnis...ffs....is omnis

Edit- ya im actually a Programmer my self, Posted Image

What language is that? Where's the semi-colons?

public class Gyro
{

public static void main (int EngineRating , boolean XL-Gyro , double X )
{
if (XL-Gyro == True)
{
+X Tons //where X is based on Mechs Engine Rating,
Add XL-Gyro Crits //Fills Free CT Crits with Locked XL-Gyro Crits(as Omni Locked JJs)
Add Quirk (+52.5% Screen-Shake)

if (EngineRating >= 60 && <= 100)
{
double X = 0.5;
}
if (EngineRating > 100 && <= 200)
{
double X = 1.0;
}
if (EngineRating > 200 && <= 300)
{
double X = 1.5;
}
if (EngineRating > 300 && <= 400)
{
double X = 2.0;
}
}
}

That's best i could do with my basic JAVA. Posted Image

Yeah, compact gyros really do some great things for CT hardpoints, and even small cockpits let you squeeze a 2-crit weapon into head hardpoints, greatly improving potential zombie builds (or in some cases like the Dragon, actually making the CT hardpoint worth something big). XL gyros can turn a few crit spaces into extra tonnage (especially on big engines).

It's a whole lot of tweakage for builds, and like LFFA, I expect they'd get more play than people initially expect.

though compact Gyro would be cool, we would have to move up to 3068,
which shouldnt be a problem, im just wanting to see these added first, before we add in other Gyros,

Stats for Compact Gyro are 2moreCrits in CT(4Total) @ +50% Gyro Weight,
(60-100Engine = 1.5Tons)(105-200Engine = 3Tons)(205-300Engine = 4.5Tons)(305-400Engine = 6Tons)

a LCT with Compact Gyro + Small Cockpit + Endo +100XL could put a HPPC in its CT, ;)
