I love the new laser sounds, but was expecting different laser graphics ... especially for heavy lasers.

If PGI can't change anything else, I really wish they would at least make the Large Heavy Laser purple. Kind of like this picturePosted Image.

YES! I Completely agree and thought of this same thing this morning! This should happen. The Heady Medium Laser should be orange, and the Heavy Large should be purple! Heavy Small... I dunno, but something different. +1000

All the heavy lasers should be shifted one color darker

Heavy Small = Red -> Orange
Heavy Medium = Green -> Turquoise (in between green and blue)
Heavy Large = Blue -> Purple

And micro lasers should be shifted one color lighter

Micro Laser = Red -> Pink

Agreed! However, werent the bombast laser from MW4 mercs purple. Anyway.
I also want Medium Heavy lasers be orange and the heavy smalls either red or green.

I would be very happy for those colors too. At least, purple and orange!

Heavy lasers should shoot out rainbows and sparkles.

you should be able to take one of each type of laser and shoot a rainbow.

I agree. They should base those colors on wavelength charts such as this one.

I think this is cool. I think being able to distinguish more lasers by color is nice.

well the heavy lasers hit pretty hard so I think they need to be distinguished by color so you know its a heavy laser

I like the idea of keeping the colors the same by class, i.e. small/medium/large, but with a different effect. For heavy lasers, maybe a thicker beam or a pulsating effect. Maybe a literal waveform.

It's decided then. The colors will change. =)

that makes sense for pulses and er lasers (still not sure why erml are yellow)

but more powerful lasers are darker in color because the wavelength is lower/frequency is higher.

so heavy lasers being color shifted one color darker makes sense.

I do think ER lasers need something to differentiate them from normal lasers too. ER lasers should have a thicker beam I think.

Bombast Lasers were red, kinda like the IS LL in that game.

Shorter wavelength light carries greater energy; it's just good physics that the weakest laser is in the red band and highest is purple. I don't know if PGI actually did its research or Battltech lore already got that covered but the red-green-blue color scheme for small-medium-large laser actually has basis in facts.

On the other hand, the strongest visible spectrum we can see is blue so purple/UV laser would be stretching realism too...

Unless youve had cataract surgery like my dad. Then sometimes you can see UV light. Cataracts are your eyes way of protecting themselves from UV light, so when the cataracts are removed, you can see the UV light.

I'm sure the art division will do stuff like that soon but cut them some slack. They're just a part of the whole company and when you look at all they have on their plate-- weapon retrofitting on hundreds of mech variants, new mech models for upcoming additions, their camos/paints/cockpit items, etc, I'm not so worried about the appearance part of the PTS. It's the stats and stuff we should be focusing on.
