You realize that there was a tooltip while the game that was loading that encourage swapping modules to save cbills rights.

Yep. Module swapping between mechs was a mistake. It destroyed the functionality of modules as currency sinks. You'll note that the new system doesn't even allow you to move mech XP to another mech of the same variant for free. PGI learned their lesson about allowing players to bypass in-game sinks.

I was thinking the same thing. I take my Battlemaster 1G short range build into a match. Lo and behold, the map is Polar Highlands. I can then click on my "Change Variant\Loadout\Whatever" button, and I can choose between the variants I already own.

I have 2 Battlemaster 1Gs. One is a ML-heavy loadout, the other a ERLL and LRM loadout. I also have a 2C that is a straight-up brawler. It'd be nice to be able to switch out to a more "map-friendly" build.

ok so pheonix... I am telling you right now.. 500-600+ match score and using a consumable or 2.. basically negates all gains in money.

I tracked lots of matches.. one account i used my best nechs that where +30% cbills. The other account learning mechs, and paying to level.

I did do double the C-bills on my main account with bonus mechs.. I still earned about 25m over the last month on the other account leveling mechs. So basically if you are playing decent, even leveling mechs you will earn money.

If you have a + c-bill mech, and run premium you rake it in.

The lack of being able to save loadouts is the sole reason I haven't played this game in nearly 2 years. I check the forums every once in a while to see if they fixed it, but alas they refuse. Every single previous mechwarrior game had this feature so it's not novel or complicated. They simply refuse so I refuse to play MWO. Instead I play planet side 2, which is everything I wish MWO was, except for the lack of quality mechs - PS2 only has basic mechs, but it has 5 classes of infantry, 4 types of aircraft, 6 types of vehicles and we can build bases on a persistent fight that sometimes reaches 2000 v. 2000 v. 2000 players that's right 6000 people in a fight on a huge map. It's awesome!

Given the recent implementation of skill tree I find your question kinda strange ... Since you are forced to re-spec a mech completely in order to change your loadout you should be able to guess an answer to your question yourself ... i.e. never.

A totally unskilled 'mech with ERLLs, PPCs, Gauss Rifles, low-caliber ACs or LRMs is going to be MUCH more useful on Alpine than an optimally-built SRM boat or LB-10X + Snubs loadout. Even a 'wrong-skilled' 'mech is still going to be benefiting from generic things like Range or Heat or Radar Dep.

2 guys pissing on each other ruining a thread with 2 good ideas.

1) Saving loadouts in the Mech Lab. Yes pls.

2) Ability to switch loadouts once the map/mode is picked. I would rather it that I'm able to pick between 4 different mechs off a drop deck, once the map/mode is decided. Just like in FP, once the map/mode is picked, you have an opportunity to pick which of 4 mechs to drop 1st. But I guess this will freak out the MM. If switching loadout on the same mech is possible after map/mode is picked, then the sacrifice should be that the skill tree cannot be changed.

3) And while we're at it, how about Testing Grounds beforeI purchase a mech config or mech.

On Planetside 2 they have an entire map where you can go and test out any build that you might want to buy and shoot at every other build if you so choose. They even let you use 1 weapon/mod you have not bought for 1 hour every day.

i'd like it better if the game wouldn't unexpected error and crash when you try and change a simple setting in options and then have to reinstall fresh. Pgi expects people to buy mw5...they can't even make mwo work.

Never, they want you buying multiple copies of mechs for each load out that you might want. They will never give us saved load outs for that reason.

well, you could do

a} a loadout export import in the mechlab, which can be used to save loadouts or load them, and enables easy interaction with 3rdparty stuff, and leaves them from having to store all your loadouts on the server - all they have to do is some dna text code which should be easy to design
and of course a simple validation at import... which should not be too hard, as that damn editor is validating each click on armor increase which sometimes makes me crazy*.
one could simply save all his loadouts in a textfile, or even share them. examples are decks in wargame or eve online builds.

b} allow you to switch between mechs of the same type in said loading phase, so you have to buy multiple mechs if you want multiple loadouts before the match

best of 2 worlds. very neat feature. much appreciate.

*) as a seasoned coder, i find the ui coding is dreadful, and nobody cant tell me you cant clean that up in a week or two.
