I did the exact same thing, only that I replaced the RL in the CT with a MRM 10 with a ton or so of ammo.

The best rocket builds are ones where you don't have any rockets. Please, for the love of god, don't use them. I really don't want to have teammates who lose the majority of their firepower after a single shot.

Rockets are only good on lights, where you trade the light to delete on assault mech.

A one shot build on a 90 ton mech is a waste.

Waste? It can take out another assault mech with one hit and still have major firepower. 3 lpl are not small fry, Its not a 1 shot build. There are a lot of mechs who can run this without being 1 shot.

Everyone 4v4 game i have taken this in we have won.

That'd be pretty damn devastating.
The triple LPL ensures that you have 30(+) damage alpha strikes to fight with, and a single RL20 will obliterate almost any light or medium. A secondary RL20 volley can kill anything that survived. Great emergency firepower.

Spoiler

Everyone 4v4 game i have taken this in we have won.

First of all, LRM only builds make me weep.

Second, it's 4 vs 4. There isn't that much enemy armor floating around, so of course being able to splat a 1/4th of the enemy force out of existance in one shot is going to skew your win rate. But in 12 vs 12 matches, limiting yourself to a heavy mech loadout with inadequate heatsinks after that first shot is just a massive waste of an Assault chassis.

Plus there are quite a few builds where there's a small excess of weight that could fit a RL in there and add to its firepower in a missile hardpoint where something else wouldn't have.

Maybe I was just having a dumb, but trying to make my COM-2D work with an LPPC, 3 RL15's and stealth armor but kept getting a "slot error", couldn't figure it out.

I did a RL60 on an ASN and used 2 LPPC's, that was surprisingly fun - also ran some Vindicators with a RL20 stuffed in that silly left torso, didn't get any kills but great little 'panic button'.

2mechs down in 12v12 wins almost all the time. If you dont want it you dont have to take it. But having an auto kill button is worth 5-10 tons to me. Over all this post was about posting builds . If you want to talk about the weapon please go to the feedback thread.

This is another one i been running around with. I havn't had much luck with the mrm but you could change them out to srm. One nice thing about having the rockets in the st, is you dont have to open your doors.

Had a 4kill game with this guy. One of the enemy team give his back and the rockets took care of it. :)

This one is a little hot without coolshots but is does work.

That looks really nice visually :D

My personal take on Rockets is that yeah, they might seem like fun, but it looks to me that they will be mostly used en-mass to one-shot big mechs.

And one-shoting anything is not supposed to be good for a MW game.. yeah it's fun when you do it.. but not so fun when you're on the receiving end..

Rockets should be removed from the game if you ask me.. if they are not, than a cap on how many you can carry should be implemented with the purpose of making it impossible to one-shot anything.

Anyone test the Bushwacker? Maybe a Shadowhawk? I saw 1 Griffin 2N with Rockets but either the player missed with them or he/she wasn't loaded out with many because it failed to do much to the target.

I'm wondering about the mediums in particular in regard to Scouting dynamics.

Can you put enough rockets on an IS medium so as to conclusively one-shot most any one clanner opponent? If so, is that not going to totally muck with the scouting mode, and if so, is that not going to start us down yet another path of lets nerf this mech and that mech into the ground before PGI decides that hey maybe it isn't the mechs but the stupid scouting "rocket meta"?

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone looked into this.

I don't want to pilot anything where if I miss one shot for whatever reason I'm doomed. Rockets as extra weapons, sure. As primary weapons... no.

At 40 tons more, the Cyclops at the top of the thread has 100 more rockets than my Centurion AL, but otherwise has the same firepower, worse range, worse heat handling, and it's slower. Yes, you can kill one mech. Grats. But can you kill THREE?

Ran into this guy on the PTS. I was running a far more pedestrian MRM80 build on my own Archer.

I would just use the missile locust , since once you shoot you're useless to the team. The locust will also allow you to get into prime position a lot easier and without taking much fire.

And you can pack an ERSL on that Locust too, so you are not totally useless afterwards.... RL80+ERSL is how I'm going to roll my LCT-3S...

The Cyclops has a very large engine for speed. You could drop this for more firepower but personally if you did you might as well go with the battlemaster. It has 1/3 power set to rockets. With 2/3 in lpl. With the speed to keep up with the group and the armor of an assault.

Please post your cent rocket build that's what I was hoping people would do.

With the PTS closed, I can't take a cool screenshot, but I do have this:

265 Light Fusion Engine
Endosteel, 9.5 tons Light Ferro Armor
14 DHS (1.45 heat efficiency not counting Rockets)
ERLL - RA
ERLL - RA
ERLL - CT
Rocket 20 - LT
Rocket 15 - LT

Option to reduce engine slightly and drop rockets to 15 and 10 to slot in AMS with 1t Ammo.
