I want the hero roughneck and the energy one. These will be fun with the new tech.

Those are the two I am most interested in also. I also like the one that gets 2energy CT and one energy head.

just think if it was a 70 ton Mech that would have kicked butt

If it were 75 it'd be pretty much perfect

Curious why this thing is so rare, i have played like 20 games once and never came across one in either my team or the enemys? I havent owned it myself but it looks to be a solid mech overall since its got alot of great hardpoints especially up high, isnt too wide either, and seems fairly tanky on the few occasions i found one and shot it apart.

Anyways, hope it doesnt get nerfed, at least looks like a mech id run and would fit my playstyle with teh correct build...

Mostly because everyone doesn't want to pay real money for a mech that could potentially get nerfed once it's out for c bills. The history of PGI makes everyone a bit fearful of dropping real money into it and with good reason.

Personally I've played them so much(400 games) now that I don't feel like taking it out anymore.
Same thing happened with my Warhammers. Don't come out much more anymore.

As mentioned previously I didn't even really test the things out in PTS.

You can even see it in my last 2 seasons leaderboards, after I stopped playing those mechs, look how my scores dived down.

I think part of the reason they are rare is its not a lore mech its a new pgi design, a lot of the money spenders are people who played the BT models game in the 80's.

And whats with no announcement?

The hero Roughneck actually has potential for dual UAC/10 builds, given it's got the reduced jam chance and ballistic cooldown bonus. It outdoes the JM6-DD quirks in terms of UACs, and gets a bit more reach due to only missing hand actuators instead of stripping it all the way down to upper+shoulder. Plus, it's tankier.

Don't bother with that put dual UAC10s and mlas on a CTF-3D(-30% jam chance) or CTF-IL(10% ballistic cooldown, 15% range).
If you're going to run low mounted AC's might as well take a heavier mech with LFE and nasty quirks.

The roughneck doesn't dual wield heavy ballistics very well, if you do put some on, there is little room for anything else.

I'm just glad its 65 tons, will be great for CW. Has the armor and structure of an 80+ tonner anyway.

The problem is that with the new tech, I am honestly expecting PGI to start taking the nerf hammer to many of the IS mechs, particularly ones with structure and armor quirks. Their justification is going to be that the LFE has globally increased the durability of IS mechs so such heavy duty armor and structure quirks are no longer needed.

Yeah, Roughneck is definitely overpowered, even now, compared to any other heavy mech.

It can run the meta IS laser vomit builds with 3 LPL mixed with MLs while tanking as well as assaults. Probably will get a nerf at some point in time, I'd have loved other mechs to just be brought up to that power though, tanking for the Roughneck and then something like reduced jam chance and cooldowns on the Jager for an example would be neato.

and theyre going to forget that most IS mech builds are not going to be using LFE unless LFE can be afforded. i rather take an extra AC10 over a LFE that might increase my speed if that AC10 is going to do some serious work.

also, IS mechs will still need quirks to stay on par and not tilit balance the other way. a lot of mechs are held up because of these quirks. otherwise they are looking at armor buffs and thats even more work for them to do. theyve dug themselves a hole and any more unnecessary tampering will make that hole go even deeper.
