last mech in one of my matches was a dc stalker.
i swung around him to shoot him in the head.. 12 alphas later into his cockpit yielded no damage.
i was able to blow off everything else though.

That's because it's a Disco, not because it's a stalker
Known feature, either desync or anti headshot-farm mechanic (against Discos, or specifically Zero-Pingers)

Try shooting around the cockpit area. A dc mech doesnt' stop in the same spot as the mech on the server. You can even run into problems taking the arms off for cbills because they dont take damage

You aren't able to headshot a disconnected mech nor one that never connected in the first place, unless the person has manually pressed the "Leave Match" or "Exit Game" buttons.

repeated splash damage from a clan PPC, or missile random hit spread can land some damage to the head box... but you still need like 20 or 30 shots for that to even add up to enough to remove it.

Neither of those things should hit face
Missile hits themselves will damage face, as will PPCs, but PPC splash is both STs exclusively, and missile splash is supposed to be removed (from 5CM years ago)

Thats interesting, I headshot a disco Mauler with snubs on the PTS test, dual snub to the face n' he was gone. I've seen people headshot discos live as well with little effort.
EDIT: maybe he/she was just afk and not disconnect, in which case, ignore me

It's Zero Ping players who have no hitbox whatsoever, and sometimes discos
