Heavy Laser Idea

I thought it might be interesting to have heavy laser deliver half their damage at impact and then deliver the rest via duration. In that scenario the long burn time doesn't make them feel as underpowered and one is not as punished for twisting incoming damage if the duration hasn't ended.

But I could see the opposite of that where Heavy Laser damage increases with each tick

That would allow the beam duration to be significantly shortened, but it would be balanced by rear-loading the Heavy Laser's damage so youd have to keep the beam on target for the entire duration.
