Greetings!

I am a 5 month old MWO warrior. I wasn't here at the beginning.

My thoughts go a different way: If I purchase a mech pack or a single mech, why am I purchasing a degraded vehicle?

Why am I "forced" to endure the "nerfing" or the PGI controlled degrading of basic, as purchased, capabilities?

So, they force us to buy other equipment to remain relevent? Is that how the entire Mechwarrior series was created in the first place? No.... What you operated in the earlier games were first class systems and you paid to operate them.

So, it's a great game, a game I love because it is HERE; that doesn't mean it is what it should be....

We're chasing thousands away to see a "profit"; instead of removing all of the skill tree barriers and giving us back the fully mastered mechs, at their full capabilities and then, letting us, in a very danherous and deadly world, see who can crow loudest without our hands being tied.....

"M" does not equal "P" - which means: Marginal does not equal Pass....

Just my opinion.

I agree, that can be frustrating. On the other hand, for many players, myself included, playing around in the mechlab tweaking mechs is a big part of the fun in MWO, just as it was in earlier versions of the game.

Good hunting,
CFC Conky

Yes. I was merely pointing out that the skills tree is not necessarily about true "choice" when one considers that the system dictates many attributes as part of the limited "tuning" that the system does allow. I agree with your point regarding not much customization.

How about the "choice" to not take a single point in Speed Tweak, as it's completely overrated?

Game still needs to remove map voting. Map voting only tends to reinforce meta (vote for the map your metamech is optimized for). Just removing this, the game will take a big step forward.

Just to make sure everyone's on the same page: almost nobody is disputing that the game is slowly having more stuff added to it, or that balance has improved in several ways from 2013 to 2017.

The main complaint I see revolves around how simple this game is. I won't get into the vision that PGI presented in 2012 and 2013, but if you had taken a time machine to 2013 and told all the players that MWO would only ever be an arena shooter on small maps, where the Quickplay we saw in Beta would always be the biggest and most important part of the game, I'm pretty sure most players would react with utter disbelief. Some people saw it coming, kudos to you. But as someone who spent more time on this forum than any healthy person would, I can tell you that people's expectations for this game have drastically, drastically changed over time.

I'm just here for MW5, at this point. I hope all the latest MWO mechs make it into that game (and HBS' Battletech as well), because Alex Iglesias is still hitting homeruns with great consistency. And while the 3067 tech wasn't enough to get me playing again, I'd love to try it for MW5.

I remember all the enthusiasm and excitement "way back when". That was probably the best time in the game, before we discovered that there was really never going to be much more than the arena shooter in this game.

People were excited about CW arriving in (about) 90 days! Remember back then when everyone was hoarding their Premium time for the release of CW? When was the last time you heard that? Nowadays I don't activate Premium Time because I play so little it seems a waste.

Spot on observation...

You get what the computer randomly draws: period.

Competition maps should be something no one has seen before. No one. Let's see who really can command a lance that is forced to be balanced and preparded for anything, anywhere, in any weather condition and at anytime to include total or near blackout conditions with illumination rounds (IR and normal)..... Talk about MWO being exciting......

There should be random spawn sites as well on existing maps with the lances pre-mixed.... Nothing should be static to include where the bases, resource points or domination circles are.... WHY? To keep the pilot base on their toes where nothing happens the same twice....

Just my opinions and wishes for the future.

Ok I'll add my anecdotal 2 cents.
Just came back to have a looksee after a couple year's break (been playing since the second wave of beta invites on my main account, this is my secondary, stopped playing a short while after the release of the redesigned mech lab iirc).
Things I like:
Cool fluff, like the mech cockpit monitors now having stuff on them, or the dropships flying away at the beginning of the drop.
I like the map redesigns, have to explore further.
Dropping seems faster and more efficient, with less discos by far.
Steamrolling seems less blatant/relentless/recurring. Yes theres still a fair share of 12-2 matches but I have not experienced the excruciating strings of overwhelming losses one after the other I used to love so much.
But Ive only got maybe 30 or so matches under my belt since returning, that impression could be very wrong.
Also, hitreg seems a lot better.
Lastly, I have a new video card and monitor since last playing and it really is a pretty game with everything dialed up, something I could never do in the past.

Things I dont like:
Well, still pretty much the same ol game it has been since day 1, just 'tweaked', and of course MOAR mechs. So as long as you manage to win a fair share it can be fun.

So yeah I am having fun at the moment so far... I have my lil wub-wub stormcrow brawler and for now Im content to just keep dropping in with it, doing what I can to support my assaults, chase off lights.
