Yeah, should be worth a good chunk of change if you don't plan on getting a IIC mech.

Put it in a Jenner IIC...? Those come with a slightly oversized engine, so buy a Jenner IIC and sell its engine, then use the XL 300 in it to save tonnage without any real performance impact.

Buy a clan mech for cbills and stick it in it ? Most orion IICs, Supernovas, Marauder IICs and Highlanders IICs come with standard engines. If you ever want to run quad UAC/10s in a kodiak 3... you'll need a smaller engine for it. MadCat MK2s are actually battlemechs...not omnis..so again...you may need a smaller engine for certain builds for it. As others have said...the jenner IICs max rating is 315, which they come with, but a 300XL saves 2.5 tons for only about 5kmh less speed. Two of the arctic wolves are also battlemechs capable of taking that engine.

not worth selling it IMO

keep it and buy a clan mech that can use it

Is there any 'mech other than the already mentioned Jenner that would actually use a 300 XL? It's too big for the Hunchback, too small for the assaults, and the Orion IIC already comes with one (variant depending.)

Maybe you could work it into an Arctic Wolf... ... 11 months from now.

Not to small for the assaults. The SuperNova and HGN2Cs are capped at 325 and come stock with 270s. All the supernovas including the hero are standard 270 engines. Three of the four basic HGN2Cs are also standard 270s, the othe and the upcoming hero are only a 270XLs. The difference between the 325 and 300XLs is 3 tons and the internal space for one more heat sink and about 5kmh of speed. Many owners never max the engines in them. As to the Orion2Cs... two of the four basic variants and the new upcomming hero are standard 300 engines. Three of the Mad2Cs come with standard 340s and one (the -D variant) has a 255XL with a 340 cap. Since the desync has the agility not related to the engine rating beyond top speeds... lots of owners are going smaller engines to pack in more guns.

Why would you want those 'mechs to have 300 XL engines though?

The laser boats are short on slots, not tonnage. Bringing in a bigger engine tends to result in you having more heatsinks at the end of the day. I'd never run a 300 in my Marauder IIC, and while I don't own a Supernova, looking at it I'm not seeing what else you'd put on it -- more Hoverjets?

The Orion IIC-A that I own is a brawler, and should really be going faster than 64kph... (and has a ridiculous amount of free tonnage to fit a larger engine.)

I cannot speak for the Highlander, as I do not own it. It's possible there's good builds that use the 300, but I'd imagine most of them would rather pay the three tons to go a bit faster -- in my experience, you really don't want your 'mech to struggle to outrun a Dire Whale.

Never sell the last engine of a certain size, never sell engines if they are a multiple of 25 (250,275, 300, etc) unless you have more than 10 or something. Never sell XL265, 280, 295 engines as well :)

Clan battlemechs such as the IIC line, Super Nova and Kodiaks can swap engines just like normal IS battlemechs.

since origins. clan battlemech != clan omnimech. jenner iic takes a 300xl fairly well. anything with iic or the kodiak, supernova, and the upcomming madcat mk2 (i leave anyone out?).

Two of the arctic wolves, the ones in the reinforcements pack are standard battlemechs.

The original Arctic Wolves were produced standard to test configurations, then the more expensive Omnis were made.
