Please no that looks incredibly stupid, just like the Phoenix Hawk does.

How about one below and one to the side? Same thing needs to be done for the IFR and MLX.

The panther is one of those mechs that is just hard due to poor hard point placement. Just like most the griffin's once you lose the weapon side you lose pretty much eighty to ninety percent of your fire power. Skill a lot into armor and torso twist for the panthers. You have to protect the gun arm.

I got the hero KK one just because unlike the rest the KK has its weapons spread into both arms. For the panthers you have to play it a lot like a clan light pre ach with only one third the fire power. As much as I've been playing them I've yet to find a decent build that get some what reliable damage and kills.

If you got the patience for sniping it can be ok with er/ppc/erppc. Except that build means any fast mover can solo you pretty easy when found alone. The best panther build i've done lets you be mid brawler and fire support provided you stay pretty close to teammates and don't chase the light bait.

PNT-10K cqcstdver will let you do decent damage and survive side torso loss. Put some skills into survival tree to buff up armor and a few into fire power to buff up ammo. Get the missile magazine capacity if you plan on using any missile with regularity since you will get that gun arm shot off by more experienced players.

If you want lpl sniping here is this one: http://PNT-10K lplsniper

Put a lot of skills into firepower for range on it and mobility for speed tweak. Switch out to ppc/erppc if you have better aim then invest a few poits into sensor tree for adv zoom.

I think that for the majority of mechs, they need to balance the aesthetics of underslung weapons looking cool, and side or top mount having just that little bit of ground clearance that underslung does not.

Perhaps bigger, heavier weapons like PPCs default to underslung, and smaller, compact weapons like lasers default to a smaller mount on top or outboard side of the arm.

For clustering weapons, I feel they should generally cluster with lasers mounting first on side or top for first 2, then on top or side for the next 2, then if hardpoints allow, then on underside of arm. PPCs and larger should cluster in underslung arrangement, but instead of vertical stack, should be stacked 2 weapons wide before vertically stacking.

What the heck it with that arm? It's annoying. Just make it like a pheonix hawk's arm and it'd be great!

Not the same thing. Phoenix Hawk's barrels are like that because traditionally it had a gun in its hand, which means the weapon barrels were above the hand.

Panther on the other hand, had traditionally underslung barrels.

Please, God, no! That looks just super bad on a PNT... a good super stock build I am using on my 10K is an ERPPC and 2 SRM4s with 2 tons of ammo on a 250 engine. I find it pretty decent and keeps the flavor of the Panther. If you wanna have a more meta friendly mech, take something else. Plus, LPLs on a PNT is heresy...

I am running SRMs in the CT, some lasers in the arm - not really suffering all that much from the low arm mounts. Yet, the Panther cannot play to its role of the long range fire support sniper unless side-poking. It's really good at that, mind you, and with new tech, you can fit a mix of SNPPC / LPPC on it and enjoy the PPC rain, but ultimately, the Panther is an extremely bad hill humper.

But then again, it also cannot raise it's arm, nor crouch, so all these mech designs that work fine in TT are kinda screwed in FPS games.
