Both upload and download combined.
Has anyone calculated it?

I'm not too sure, but my MWO PTS Client used 745MB of data while I was in it. I think I played on it for a good 14 hours or something.

That helps. So around 50mb per hour? But thats only 4v4. Who knows how much 12v12 uses....

On my cell phone, I usually use around 20mb per game in normal 12 v 12.

Thanks, That's exactly why I wanted to know. In Australia we hardy get any DATA with our cell plans, only a few GBS per month, and excess data is like $10 per GB. Its crazy expensive. So forget updating. But just playing seems reasonable.

Do you think turning of voice comms will net significant savings?

Do you play on your laptop via the USB Tethering? How do you find the gameoplay?

I did a few years back. I don't recall exactly and I had ts running too, but I want to say MWO was something like 120MBph

I have voice comms on because I have an unlimited plan. Turning it off might save you some bandwidth but realistically, people don't really talk all that much.

I play on a laptop using my phone as a wifi hotspot. Ping is about 110 instead of my usual 87 on a landline. Lag is usually ok, but I get occasional lag spikes, so I usually play LRM when playing on cellphone hotspot.

I play in the NW of America.

It is very viable. I played with my mobile connection through USB tethering. The connection was very stable and the ping not much different maybe 10-20ms more. Not noticeable when I play from South East Asia to NA and Asia server.

Wifi seems a lot more snappy than USB for me (Iphone 6 and 4G).

Back when I played on a laptop, I once accidentally played for a while using cell phone data. Had earlier switched to cell phone connection due to a glitch in my landline broadband.

There was a difference, but it was surprisingly slight. Playing through that would certainly not stop a good player from doing well in the game.

I was using the phone as a wifi hotspot, no USB tethering.
