It might not be important to you. It is important to us. We are just as much a part of this game community as you. If it improves the enjoyment of a portion of the player base, without negatively impacting the enjoyment of another section of the player base, it's a no-brainer.

I say this as someone who is getting my Clan added. After we got our chains jerked about back when Clans were first teased with a Nova Cat logo and everything. And got nothing. Until now, that is. Hell, even now we got a terrible faction logo redesign, and there are still people who can't find one iota of empathy there to support changing it because those who actually intend to use the logo, hate the logo.

So be a better human. Have some empathy. Support CDS (and, frankly, all the other Clans) being represented. At least eventually!

Edit: Actually, why stop there? I know there are several IS powers not being represented, too. I don't think it would be feasible to represent all the various minor powers, but the places that are actually sizable on the map? You'd expect those.

That's a very important point to remember. You can ask for all the minor factions; in fact as a fan of a minor faction myself* I think you should. But you should not just ask for one of them while ignoring the others. In case of CDS that's blatently obvious, because the St.-Ives Lancers alone saw more action than the whole Shark touman combined after Tukayyid. (Era Report 3062 does not even bother with CDS). It's fine to like them nonetheless, but don't lose perspective and keep in mind there are other minor factions with at least as a good a claim as CDS.
It would be very unfair just supporting this one and not giving support to the others.
