Okay so they are linked. For example one King Crab can carry two heavy PPCs and two normal gauss rifles.

Here's the thing, unlike all other linked heat groups, gauss has very low base heat. So what happens if I fire the two PPCs first and quickly followed by 2xgauss, so that's there's not that 0.5 second interval.

How much is the extra heat penalty of those two gauss? Does it depend on if I use PPCs or heavy PPCs prior?

Smurfy list the heat penalty for one normal gauss rifle to be 1.53 above the normal 1 heat. For two it displays 4.08 which is still very little above the normal 2 heat.

So for me this gauss+PPC joined heat group and heat penalty is pretty much nothing, unless you don't know to fire the PPC first?

When Ghost Heat is triggered, it assumes that all weapons fired have the same base heat as the highest heat weapon in the group you've fired. In your case, the Gauss Rifles are treated as additional Heavy PPCs. It's gonna be as hot as quad HPPC if you spook the ghosts.

Now, I'm curious

Gauss now has a multiplier of 8.5 (more than the 7 of the ERPPC, as possibly speculated)

Does that then multiply the heat of the Gauss (whom the penalty belongs) or the heat of the PPC (the highest option)?

Not sure what the math behind ghost heat is.... would sure like to know, so you know I could like figure the math and play nerdwarrior. But i do know that if you shoot 2 cpeeps with cgauss with 6 DHS while overide is engaged you end up with a dark orange CT and yellow scattered about, if you shoot a second time you blow up.

The original Ghost Heat maths thread is still insightful for this purpose, despite some of the base weapon heat values and heat penalty values being different (e.g. PPCs). It gives you the basic tools you need to figure out your heat penalty with pen and paper or calculator.

http://mwomercs.com/...cale-the-maths/

The ingredients you need are:
  • Base weapon heat
  • Weapon's penalty multiplier
  • Number of weapons fired (corresponds to a heat scale multiplier)
Also note that you have to do the heat penalty equation for EACH weapon over the max alpha, so for example if you fire 4 PPCs you need to calculate the penalty for the 3rd and 4th individually and then combine them.

I don't know but the Night Gyr can alpha twice no problem on Caustic.. I think its still pretty decent at its intended role.
