I tried that on a Mauler and came to the same conclusion. I also tried the inverse; still too hot. Also tried it using LPL...still too hot.

Yeah.. UAC10s are so hot!!

My Sleipnir has 2 UAC10s, 2 PPCs and a an XL350 with 14DHS. Literally don't even have room to fit any more DHS even if I had the tonnage. Its had a couple good games, all it can do is poke, burst DPS and then re-maneuver, but at that point.. why not use a Supernova or MAD-IIC with lasers... they run COOLER despite bringing all teh lazors!

I kind of like the 2 HPPC 2 AC5 build on a Highlander but it requires an XL to bring enough ammo and DHS without stripping too much armor. Another interesting one is a BNC-3E with 2 HPPCs and 2 UAC5s... only played one match in that but I feel like it could have some potential.

You should be able to run it with an LFE and 3 tons of ammo, which with the ammo skills should be more than enough.

Damn you are right. Forgot about those, that should definitely make 3 tons enough. Although.. if you lose your left side where all your DHS are you are barely going to be able to shoot, but I guess its better than dying.

You can do the same build on the Cyclops with the ECM but with the benefit of being semi-sym, only problem is you lose out on A LOT of structure quirks.

Sparky with 2x HPPC

1. Jump
2. Shoot
3. Rinse and repeat.
4. Collect cbills.

I've been messing with it some more. I have a MAL-2P with 2x UAC/10 and 2x LPL with 15x DHS on a 300 LFE. The heat isn't too bad, but I'd only rate as potent within its range as 2x cUAC/10 + 2x cUAC/5 at an optimistic best, but that's a 140 meter deficit and the 'Mech is still slower with worse geo than an MC II-B.

Maybe try something similar using 4x ERML on a 350 LFE Sleipnir? You only lose 0.36 maximum DPS vs LPL, which have better DPS than PPCs.

PPCs with UAC/10 in general just seem like complete no-go unless it's just a pair of LPPC. Blah.

It's a different archetype maybe, but one is generally taken over the other for the same role. I think one of the builds more befitting of the Whammy is combining iERPPCs and iUAC2s, I know Mag has been running around trying it but I'm not sure he really felt it good enough.

I tried that, seems a little anemic in the firepower department. Maybe if IS UACs had more than marginally better jam characteristics than their Clan counterparts, but it gets to heat cap in two ER PPC blasts going full tilt and the DPS from two UAC/2 is not quite there. I think 2x PPC/4xLPPC (or 2x LPL, I've been playing around with that) + 2x UAC/5 is still the better build. More punishing snapshot, still decent range, better DPS, similar sustain. With the 2s, it feels like you end up exposing long enough to where ERLL are better for the range.

I don't know what Mag is running, but this was mine.

I know poptarting is taken more with PPFLD, the PPFLD corner poke is just a QP thing.

Ehh, you might be exposed long enough for a full ERLL burn, but you can generally do similar-ish damage with quick bursts. I mean the 4 UAC2 Hunchie is still a thing for a reason, and while the 2 ERPPC/2 UAC2 Whammy isn't quite the same it should be somewhat similar. That said, the 4 UAC2 Hunchie is something very few people pull off really well and it generally comes down to simply knowing how to not get greedy so that might be the same issue with that particular Whammy build. That or maybe I just have an odd love for iUAC2s which is very possible, which reminds me, I should make a Black Widow with 4.

Nightstar with 4 UAC2s and an ER PPC and ECM, anyone? Eh? Ehhh??

I'd rather have 6 UAC2s. Plus at the range you are fighting, ECM shouldn't be useful so you can drop that.

Yeah, probably better off with 3 UAC5s and 2 PPCs on the -1P.

So would I. Just trying to get excited about ONE of the Nightstars but its hard now that we can't do 2 ER PPC - 2 Gauss anymore.

The elephant in the room with the comparison to the HBK-IIC is that you are comparing the use of a Heavy slot against the use of a Medium slot. The extra agility and jump jets on that Hunch more than compensates for its smaller snapshot burst. IMHO. For my money, a WHM that is just similar to an HBK-IIC UAC poke is not worth a heavy slot.

I also love the isUAC/2 (ping!), but IMHO you need at least three to get somewhere.

For the BW, perhaps this will be quite nasty.

Like I said, they aren't quite similar because the ERPPCs give the WHM a boost to that initial burst damage so you don't have to stay exposed quite as long to justify yourself.

I don't like the XL on the WHM since they nerfed the structure quirks, plus the LPPCs don't really sync with the UAC2s, I would rather just go with an LFE and pure UAC2s.

I accounted for that when I said I feel the extra mobility on the HBK more than makes up for that lack of snapshot damage. And it does. In and out much faster, safer angles. I don't think the UAC/2 WHM is going to be a thing.

I don't, either (in fact, I don't like WHMs at all!), but I'm usually not fighting at 800 meters with one. Since you won't be using the BW in MRBC, it's alright. But, if you want, you can also throw on an LFE by dumping the LPPC for ERML.

Honestly it not meeting the HBK-IIC isn't a huge issue given neither does the Summoner, yet the Summoner is still probably your best bet for a heavy on a map like Polar (outside the Dragon).

Both the SMN and the DRG have a degree of mobility that the WHM does not.

Who needs mobility? Or heat efficiency for that matter?

Lol.

In all honesty though, 3 UAC2s and 2 ER PPCs on a CP-11-A could be solid, not really worth an assault spot next to the 6UAC2 Mauler but it would be a lot more mobile but it is a full asymmetric build unfortunately.

Is 6x UAC/2 the new thing for the Mauler, or is the 3x AC/5 + 2x UAC/5 still the go-to?
