If you tag on a target outside of 270m when you have SA on, the target wont show up for you, but it will still tag the target.
Weird, in several games i was big on being a better spotter so ended up hugging a targets arse in a stealth PB using tag and teammates said they couldnt see the target being lit up which is why i dumped the tag and just fitted another laser.

Well, duh. if you have SA on you dont share target information. But the target will still be tagged.
You need to share the information via NARC or UAV in that case. If you want to be that speeshul person for some reason tagging with SA on, when you could just sit at a distance behind tagging without SA on and be much better off.

in otherwords stealth is still pretty lame.

ECM never shouldve granted stealth in the first place

Right now this is what I'm running: CP-11-P
(edit: ok got smurfy to work)
There were a few times when I stood in the middle of the whole red team and nobody shot me as I popped a few GR rounds in their backs only for them to think it was one of their own teammates that did it. lol
My build does well enough I guess.

that setup would be no different to gauss+ecm without the stealth tbh, you still get the red indicator showing where you took a hit from so know where your being hit from, its not hard to eyeball mechs on most maps, plus at a distance mechs stick out like a sore thumb.

I won't tell anyone how to play, but this play-style hurts your team. Imagine if 3 people on a team played this way, and the other team were all frontline\conventional mechs... The stealthy team will get rolled everytime.
Sadly this is just how MWO works... You want as much tonnage as possible every time in the form of heavies an assaults that go above 70kph
We will never see game modes that incentivize anything but brute force, PGI has shown no commitment to changing the formula

Ive been toying between a Uac5, LB5, and Rac2 on my Cicada. I feel with stealth mechs ballistics need to be the main gun because lasers are so hot. Right now I have Rac2 and a small laser, rest is heat sinks and ammo. Racs are hot but with the heat sinks my cicada can normally cool off slowly or at least stay neutral while running to find a place to cool off. The Racs do really good at distracting people too, which gets more chaotic when they turn their backs to your team to find you (and then cant).
I am thinking about trying a light gauss too. Because crits I cant add anything larger, sadly. Still messing around with it.
I would really love a good MG intensive mech to run stealth too, that would be fun.

Stealth works really nice on the Locust PB. You're so small that people have a hard time seeing you, and most that do have a hard time hitting you. Stealth lets you get through places without being picked up on sensors as easily, you could just run out infront of a tall mech and he'd never see you if he wasn't looking directly down.

Ammo boosting skill nodes, but he apparently liked to sneak in, start with NARCing things, then arty once they started getting missiles incoming, or he'd end up zipping by and using the SRM to hide he'd just podded you for much the same effect. I do think it's best on the very-small ones (Locust, Commando).

I depends. Generally yes, brute force is the easiest method to win. But in my opinion MWO also has room for other playstyles because damage is not everything when it comes to winning.
For example a fast striker can backstab most mechs with only minimum dmg. They did only 40-80dmg or so but took a multitude of this in form of front armor out of the equation.
Sometimes you don't have to deal any significant damage at all. I can't count how many games have been won because of one or two squirrels just by their presence in the enemy backs. When pugging, the threat of being backstabbed is often enough distraction to allow your frontline to break through.
In fact my best solo-winrates are in light mechs. No other class has the ability to cause as much panic as a light stalking the opponent's back-armor.
The trick with flanking is the correct timing. You don't want to harass the enemy too early when they have no other targets but you also don't want to take very long detours which cause you to arrive too late to the party. But when you attack together with your front-line, a flanking mech is worth a lot.
Of cause usually only lights and some fast mediums should think about flanking (unless your name is B33f) since they don't have much armor to share anyway and can reach the enemy backline in time (and get out if detected).
Personally i try to not judge anyone's performance negatively based on some end-match stats like damage. You never know if a well-placed narc of a 40dmg mech brought the rain of doom down on an enemy Atlas.

I've tried other builds too, like along MRM80 and MRM 60 with a pile of med pulse. I wanted to try those to backstab someone never could find anyone to shoot at their back. With MRM 80 and med pulsess it had 108 alfha with about 67% heat. It would have been fun but never found anyone alone who I could creep behind.

Is is good or even useful? Not really. I've had some few fun moments though. The stealth armor is most effective at breaking a missile lock. Someone behind a wall counters my ECM with probe. Then the light Im shooting close range can target me and then the might of thousand lurms threaten me. But I press the magic button and try to creep off the situation while not taking too much damage from the light.
Even that's not so useful but I really love it when I can break off the lock using it.
I will probably at some point take back the 3 ERL I had with maybe SRM4 or bunch of other lasers.

They blur with the background and make them hard to hit.
But using it with my medium showed that all can see me easily and I wondered if this invisibility thing
is only for lights
