I will get straight to the point:
The window in which you have to release the shot of the heavy gauss is way too short.
I would estimate it to be 250 ms.
I guess what PGI did when they increased the charge time on the HGauss is that they took the normal gauss, increased the charge up time but did not increase the time after which the charge dissipates.
Frankly, its not unusable, but it makes it a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

It's fine with the gauss skills, but those should not be a requirement.
There's no reason to handicap the weapon that hard when you can circumvent it anyways.

My point is that you are complaining about something for which you have a fix readily available.
Frankly, I don't care what the charge-up time is, if the hold time is the same as the normall gauss it's fine. *shrug*

Except it wasnt the same, which is what he is saying. I ran into this problem too. Basically you would charge the rifle and then only have a split second to release for it to fire or it would drop the charge. I had to charge 3 times trying to get it to fire because I would release half a second early or late. Basically it would only fire the exact moment it was fully charged with no window for it to hold the charge.

This is indisputably a bug.
Heavy gauss is supposed to hold a charge (fizzle time) for 1.5 seconds. By default, stock, it's definitely holding a charge for closer to 0.5 seconds. So something is wrong.
For the record, all other gauss in the game have a fizzle time of 2.0 seconds.

And when he said they 'did not increase the time after which the charge dissipates' I heard 'it holds the charge the same amount of time,' which was apparently an incorrect interpretation.
Yes, it should hold the charge the same amount of time as a normal gauss, IMO. But a dev would have to answer as to whether or not that's on purpose.
