Ok so I'm a Merc... but I have the option to choose between IS and Clan banners? Wth is this? What happens if I choose a side? Doesn't make any sense.

you chose a contract. if you chose a side again youll go loyalist instead. if you chose a contract then you fight for said faction at theyr bonus per round until the contract runs out.
you contracted to marik , youll get marik pay for teh next 7 days and fight on the is side. afterthat you can change to whatever otehr faction you like again.

So I'm Marik.. But what does it mean to Choose Side Clan!? I'm a Merc... I can choose any side I want with contracts. Why is there another option to choose Clan or IS?

No such thing as Clan or IS Loyalist? Thought it was just Faction loyalty. Like Marik Loyalist. etc.

That "choose side" graphic is to get to summaries of the various factions; first you pick a side to look at, then it shows the different faction options for that side. Picking one of those two banners won't commit you to anything, it just shows more info.
