With the last patch alt-tab handling became producing heavy visual glitches.
Alt-tab seems to be difficulty for PGI programmers (or outsourcers?) for a long time but now alt-tab can not be used at all.

Yes it seems to create problems now, e.g., black screen and lockouts. For example when using alt tab I was joined into a game I was waiting for but locked on the lobby screen, I could not enter the game even by rejoining it (which was not an option). I had to log out and back in.

Try "Full window", it usually solves all problems

this is not really* a solution. But you can avoid the problem by playing in "fullscreen window" mode.

Fullscreen alt-tabbing has always been buggy with Windows... I'm just surprised you didn't have issues before this.

No, I mean in the Windows OS... Windows is the one handling the alt+tab event, and suspending the video being displayed... It is the one glitching your video because it doesn't want you to run anything in fullscreen mode since XP came out. Just because you are experiencing a new symptom, it doesn't mean the cause has changed.

MarsThunder, there is a workaround for this. Before trying to click out to something else, use "Alt+Enter" (preferably with the 'Right Alt', as 'Left Alt' is defaulted to activating the MASC) to switch out of FullScreen, and then press "Escape" to release the mouse cursor. This should stop a bunch of the trouble with this issue that you're having now, and enable you to interact with applications like TeamSpeak. When you're ready to resume sending input to MWO, all you have to do is click back in, and then "Alt+Enter" and "Escape" once more to resume playing. This solution WILL allow you to continue using FullScreen display mode.
As others noted, however, using "Alt+Tab" is usually fatal. There's a lot of bugs in MWO, and trying to force a simultaneous Resolution Switch, Display Mode Change, and Application Focus Change apparently seems to damage MWO's running task in RAM, as it's based on an old version of the Crysis Game Engine. So, please avoid that key combination on the keyboard, if you can.

The fix for me was playing in "Fullscreen Windowed" mode, not "Fullscreen".
Eh, some people have computers fast enough to handle "Full Window" mode. Others don't have that, and must use "FullScreen" to maintain framerates. Please understand that some people can't use the same solution as others.
