This is true. In fact, several of my mechs just can't be improved by new tech, or would require their entire build concepts junked and the entire thing re-done from the concept stage up. My MAD-5D? Ain't touching it. Griffin 2N? Nope, good as-is. Most of my clan mechs? No need to change.

Ok, well lets see, I really just want to undust my aold 12 CERML build, reason is 12 yellow lasers are shiny and enjoyable to watch. Even if a lot less efficient in general.
now this would mean the following choices in "realistic perfection" in the skill trees

I really hate all those stupid cooldown nodes as they help no energy build at all that are running too hot anyways.
Range on CERML is now at 800 again which with range nodes can be extended quite nicely,
However CERML burndurations aren't very nice, and heat isn't efficient. this emans Cool running is definately needed. also some heat gen. The duration may be optinial.
I definately want my radar derp and seismic, they are kinda my vital info hacks.
And an extra UAV is also nice as well as an extra slot for some arty strike as it is necessary in some tactical situations.
This leads to the superinconvinient choices of having those 9 nodes too much and I cannot decide which to sacrifice. And then it always ends my motivation to "solve" that issue later Which so far meant: not today again.
