Maybe instead of using TT's 40% increased heat for the same damage and better range, use MW2's 30% increased heat for 25% increased damage and better range? So 9.425 heat and 12.5 damage, 500m ideal range? That'd give them very slightly better damage than cLPL, better heat efficiency, and somewhat worse range, while essentially being a straight upgrade over IS LPL for all purposes except close-medium range spam. Probably give them a GH limit of 2.

X-Pulses, Heavy Lasers and a lot of modern Battletech stuff is just outright bad game design of the "THIS AMP GOES UP TO ELEVEN"-category. Taking existing game mechanics and making numbers bigger is not how you improve a game.

Large X-pulse lasers will have a place, it's basically an extra large pulse laser but the question is if med and small x-pulse laser can find a special balance of stats to not just become a step in between the generic pulse lasers.
