[Novakaine]

I've witnessed many dumb things since my closed beta days here in MWO.
But this has to have been the dumbest of them all.
Playing on Tourmaline last night this potato in waving his arms at me instead of firing.
He was at the lip of the big crater near the Stargate on the map.
As if beckoning me to come on down and has some tea.
So I tapped off some rounds from my RAC-UZI and he ducked.
Oddly enough I kept watching and he pops up and waves madly at me again.
Instead of firing he pops back down again.
Good thing I had beagle on this mech because I noticed the two shutdown EBJ's hiding at the bottom.
Momma didn't raise no sucker so I alerted the the team that we had 3 clay pigeons in the crater.
Could a brother get some help.
Brother got some help and we all had roasted potato's for dinner.
I laughed for rest of the evening.
Sad though the Orion had me dead to rights and would have blown my Uzi in half.
Go figure.
Any other incredibly dumb gameplay you seen - just curious.

Sounds like some Saturday morning cartoon villain level of tactics they had.

I don't have much outside of enemies shooting me out past their max range even after I've told them in all chat that they are out ranged. Then the enemy continuing to try to shoot at me until he loses a side torso and runs off with no damage.

A year or two back, when I still ran Clan, I was using my quad UAC/10 Dakka Wolf (back when the UAC/10 was a bad weapon...) and a Raven tried to face tank me... yea, I got called everything from a hacker to a bad as I had some how managed to murder his 35t mech with ease....

After several minuets of typed verbal abuse from the guy, I pointed out that I was in a Dire Wolf, and I carried more tonnage in guns than his mech weighed and that he was dumb enough to try and face tank me.... he got real quite after that.

My issue recently is that I just don't understand what the MM is doing. My understanding is that at Tier 1, I should never see Tier 4 or 5 players including being on the same team with them but when you get rolled in under 5 mins 0 kill to 12 and you have not one, not two but three players on your team that didn't even manage to break 100 damage something is wrong. There is no way these Potatoes are at a Tier 3 level of experience or competence. I am not even using the word "skill" here, I am just talking about having played the game enough to understand basic tactics. I mean I could rush headlong into the entire enemy team and at least break 100 damage before they killed me.

For a while now, the small player base has been giving T1's T4/5's to play against so that T1's can actually get into a game.

That sure doesn't sound potato to me. A potato would've been trying to shoot you with Sm Lasers at 700m. I would love it if more of my games had more zany antics like this. Sure beats hill humping for 7 minutes.

Someone I used to group up with was fond of using a Mad Dog build with ER Mediums and SIX (6) NARC launchers. Six.

The player was a great shot with decent battlefield awareness, and it wasn't a new player mistake, they just liked to max out the match bonus for landing NARC beacons on enemy targets. And talk about how great the build was over VOIP chat.

I am one of those brain-dead potatoes at times, and I can confirm I get into all kinds of matches. ;-)
I have just barely now eked into Tier 3 ...

Had a Mauler block my back near the same ledge you were talking about. I tried to back away from peaking when I started taking fire, he was standing right behind me. When I turned around I shot him with a micro laser. He went berserk and started firing alpha after alpha into me. I eventually just turned my back and let him try to TK me... he failed. And then he went all "boo hoo me, I'm the victim" in voice chat. He then went to fight the enemy, and died with a single damage point to the enemy... no joke... 1 damage.

I went up to Tier 1 a week ago.

I'm on vacation so been playing quite a lot. And I've intentionally paid close attention to how much the games would change at Tier 1.

In my experience, there's literally zero difference to Tier 2 games. The only thing that changed is my average wait time in queue went up significantly. I'm guessing it'll try to find that "Tier 1" game for a while, and then gives up and just throws me in the exact same games I had at Tier 2.

You can troll harder. Nothing like overheating someone, chainfiring your NARCs, lazoring their missiles, ruining their ECM, and tickle UPL fire with a massive targeting computer. And DUAL TAG SPOTTING POWER.

All that team damage penalty must have wrecked his damage total, no matter how well he did.
