I post this because it can be useful.
Today I tried to buy some MC through the site, but...NOPE: XSolla doesn't want to "approve" my credit card, even if I use Paypal.

Xsolla sucks. PEriod.

So I asked to billing support, if it is possible to buy MC through Steam.
And YES, it worked, because Steam Store purchase doesn't use XSolla!!

With the esact same credit card and datas, I managed to buy my MC in less than 1 minute.

gg steam!

Booooo Xsolla.

Presumably by doing all the purchasing ingame while running through steam, there's a steam overlay that'll pop up when you're buying stuff within a game that allows you to use steam wallet funds for the purchase, at least in most cases.

remember that any sales done through steam usually take quite a large cut.

I had the same thing happen as Xsolla is a foreign company or something overseas and most credit cards wont let you purchase it. I use paypal now and it works fine with paypal.

Using steam, if you click "buy MC" inside the game, it will open a steam window, not the usual Xsolla

esactly, this.

Bypassing xsolla, and doing the purchase in less than 1 minute.

Sounds like PGI should look for a payment processor outside of Steam that actually works then.

Steam takes a bigger cut of the purchase than Xsolla... so... individual gamer doesn't see any difference... but PGI's wallet does. That's why the steam packs only go on sales during the mandated steam sale periods.

However in this case Xsolla didn't work so some money (through Steam) is better than no money!

I wonder if the MC through Steam has regional pricing? It might be a lot cheaper for non-US players in that case.

In my experience Xsolla passes on much of the cost to the customer. Being in Canada, the Xsolla exchange rate is awful and includes processing fees I believe.

Yeah **** xsolla, I'm done trying to do anything through them. The last 3 transactions I've done through them have been nothing short of a headache.

Xsolla, once you go through some customer-service iterations, does end up working. There are three issues:

-Xsolla is seen as high risk for fear of being non-compliant with federal laws against internet gambling. This is a concern for the banks issuing the card -- as Xsolla is payment processor gateway, many banks take the position that it is safer to deny those charges for all processor gateways since the banks have problems figuring out if the actual business that is receiving the money is legal for US customers.

-Xsolla does its own fraud prevention routine and often requires you to jump through the CSR-loop once at their end to get on their "whitelist" due to the chargeback protection they offer to PGI.

-Banks are wary of international transactions, but are absolutely paranoid when it comes to payment-processors AND international transactions.

Combinations of all of the above are what make Xsolla problematic until you go through the hoops with your card issuer and Xsolla at least once -- once everyone gets whitelisted, the problems go away.
