1B works great with either 3 MRM10s, 3 Streak 6s or 4s, and a shotgun along with a pair of MGs.

1C... 1 LB10, 4 streak 2s, 3 MGs and you can make mincemeat of lights and really mess up anything larger. I just cleaned up an assault and 3 lights with one that way.

1A... pair of MRM20s, 4 MGs and a ERML. 300 Light engine along with Endo and LFF. Fast calvary build that can put a serious hurting to other mechs.

3A... its all energy weapons but the two in each side torso are high mounts next to the head. 3 LPL and 5 ERML work well together on it.

2A... the only one I'd use a standard engine on...MAYBE...as it has a pair of CT and a head Energy hardpoints, to go with 3 ballistic and 1 missile. You can zombie it nicely.

Bought a 3A last night.

Awful mech with 3 LPL and 3 ERML and a lite 300

Just awful.

Don't buy it.

Don't support PGI's made up mechs

Ignore my 600+ damage from every match, clearly that's due to airstrike spam

Don't chase super tankyness quirks

The Roughneck isn't forgotten. It's just not good. It has nothing another 65 tonner won't do better other than tank, and lighter mechs are hard to fit LFEs on. You lose either a lot of gun or a lot of speed.

Still my favorite mech. Hands down. So many good builds for a battlemech. From UAC boat to laservomit to brawler.

A pair of MRM20s costs two tons more than a quartet of MRM10s, which means less ammo or a different engine. You could get the tons back by stripping the arms, of course, but... when there are hardpoints in 'em, I like to use 'em. Being able to shoot up and down is quite useful. I weep tears of manly shame every time I see a 'Mech with arm hardpoints die because it failed to mount weapons in them.

I'm liking the 2A with 3 MPL, an MRM20, and a RAC/5. This is so far the only mech I've enjoyed RACs on.
