Said nothing of the sort, and you're saying I'm the dense one? Half my mechbay is filled with stupid and dumb builds just because I'm either too cheap to change them or I derive some kind of enjoyment from them. I imagine that's the same for a lot of people.

Then why would you assume someone from SJR taking a PPC Gauss Night Gyr makes it meta? You didn't say it, but you heavily implied it when you used that as evidence that PPC Gauss was meta, or rather you tried to disprove what Quicksilver said about PPC Gauss not being meta by saying that you "must be confused by all the Night Gyrs and Marauder-IICs running PPC Gauss" or something to that effect. Then you said that "oh i'm not talking about PUGs using it, I'm talking about comp players using it" with the implication being that therefore its meta because comp players use it.

So yeah I guess you didn't SAY it, but that's the basis for your entire argument of PPC Gauss being meta, which is the basis of the argument that the Boiler is good "because anything that can run PPC Gauss is good".

I guess this has derailed enough, I just wish people would stop saying PPC Gauss was "meta". It hasn't been "meta" for months.

Topic at hand: I'm not disappointed with the Bandit because I had no hopes for it anyway. Its a Mad Dog. What are you going to do with two ballistics? UAC10s and barely enough ammo? Gauss in the shoulder with some ER MLs?

Honestly, I would rather they have given us two shoulders with one energy hardpoint in each.

Not really, but heavily implying something and then say "I didn't say that!" is pretty weak.

Shoving words down people's throats and then screaming "well you implied it" is pretty weak.

What you said, directly implies that "I saw comp players use it" therefore "its meta". Saying that I'm shoving words down your throat doesn't change that.

Anything that can mount Dual Guass/ERPPCs is gonna go right to the top of the Meta ladder.

This is false, Gauss/PPC isn't really in the meta currently. Now, Gauss + Lasers and you would be correct but several mechs do Dual Gauss + Lasers better. That or is able to spam ERPPCs as that is another part of the meta (HBK-IIC-A, SMN, WHK-C).

Yeah, you aren't trying to justify that ER PPC gauss is meta based on its use in the game.

Mm mm, no way.

I look at The mad dogs hard point locations.

Stop your whinging.

What I said, directly states that "I saw comp players use it" therefore "it's hyperbolic to say no comp player uses it". You responded with "you don't think comp players use non-meta mechs" which was again just shoving words down my throat. You're the one shadow boxing a straw man in your head. I'd just rather it didn't have my name attached to it.

I don't have to justify it. I play almost nothing but Quick Play and occasional CW, and I see these builds at least once a game either on my team or the other. Meta isn't a short hand term for "most powerful." Meta is what is used, and people still use PPC/Gauss (and just PPC) combos enough that I have to watch out for Night Gyrs, Jagers, and other such mechs sitting on a far off corner popping shots off at me. Hell I saw a Gauss/PPC Boiler yesterday. That has nothing to do with what comp players are or aren't doing. Anyone with a modicum of ability to aim can shoot those weapons and hit me, and a stream of gauss and PPC shells still hurts even if something else might hurt more.

At worst I was overly broad by not specifying that "Gauss/PPC Boiler isn't top of the ladder anymore" in the first place, but I threw that out in my very first response to Gas Guzzler a page ago not that it mattered. At that point everyone was too far gone in their assumptions to actually follow a coherent conversation.

Putting the mounts so low down is just asinine, especially given how high the Mad Dog cockpit is. It's at the very tippy top of the mech. Throw the damn thing a bone here. Not like anyone ever thought the Mad Dog was OP.

Queue in previous complaints about how OP the cockpit being high made the Mad Dog better lrm boat than the Archer. Seriously are we just complaining for the sake of complaining now?? Realizing this ish is a never ending cycle. Someone is going to complain...about something. Then, said complaint, real or imagined, worthy or abysmal manages to aggregate like minded individuals and before you know it, a mech that SHOULD run missiles better than anything else becomes Meta-worthy with reindeer antlers for ballistic hardpoints.
Ya no thanks.

It's a precedent that was broken ages ago though, and frankly it hasn't really happened again in awhile. The Oxide was the last mech that qualified as "OP across the spectrum" and that was killed with the rescale that killed all the Jenners as I'm aware. Since then while heroes might still end up best in chassis (or nebulously tied with 1-2 other of their siblings which I find more common), they haven't been OP across the spectrum since... Damn awhile. PGI learned their lesson I think from that little era between the rise of the Ember and the final demise of Oxide but now I think they're being too conservative in a lot of cases. Would the Bandit be so broke if it got to have ballistic mounts on the yellow sections here?

Posted Image

The Red I think would actually be pretty broken, cause even the EBJ and Jager as dual gauss heavies have to reveal good chunks of their torsos just because of cockpit locations. A certain horror becomes apparent when you combine the Maddogs high up cockpit with the potention for eye level Gauss rifles Posted Image

Honestly just about everything seems to aggravate the MWO player base XD

We got a daring one here Posted Image

Gotta be bold anyway. Besides all this complaining is the reason we don't get nice things anyway.

Huh? When have I ever said the cockpit being high suddenly makes it a great LRM boat? I don't even like LRM boats, so I could care less if it's a better LRM boat or not.
