This is even stupider than assuming a 'Mech is cursed, but...

I recently applied AJ Light Orange to my Deathstrike. Didn't get one good game for the better part of two days (gotta admit, my idea of a "good game" might be asking for a bit much). I switched back to another colour and poof, matches became much, much better. I'm not superstitious and I know it's coincidence, but I had that happen with a few 'Mechs - different colour each and every time.

Same.

I have the TBR-C(S) from the Steam Heavy Performance pack, and even when the Timber Wolf reigned supreme, I always failed to put up great performances in it. It's hard to believe it, but the damn thing sits at a 0.5 WLR, making it the worst 'Mech I own. Would've sold it for C-Bills if I could.

I noticed the same thing with paint. One of my favourite colours was Blood Orange, but my average damage went up when I removed it.

My new favorite mech is my MadCat MK2, PINKEYE. When he grows up, he wants to be a derpstrike. He follows the same rules with the paint...

Spoiler

Only the exact opposite. 2 LBX20's, 4 ASRM6 - the brightly coloured plumage is an evolutionary trait designed to draw prey into striking range.

Nibble nibble little fishy. NIBBLE NIBBLE.

SPLAT.

Any 'mechs you guys have trouble do anything in although you are a good pilot with them?

Oh.

Nevermind. That first part, I got plenty. That second part...not so much.

Yeah, wasn't sure what to make of that either but went along with it anyway. Oh well. This was a [not serious] thread anyway, going by the title.

My Tempest is cursed

I dunno if it is because it has a light color scheme, or if its because its a hero mech, but I always seem to get targeted over my teammates. This occasionally causes me to die a premature death.

Doesn't matter if I am right behind an assault, my ECM is on, or if other mechs are in the enemies face....I seem to just get shot at when my TEAM is a better target.

I've watched people just straight up bum rush me, exposing their backs to my buddies and dying.
Or they will be fighting one of my teammates 1v1, and they decide to switch targets to me for no reason (even if I am fresh)
...I have no clue why this happens.

I'm thinking its those big doors that open up and say "pain coming" that scares people. Don't really experience this on my other mechs

I'm pretty decent with my assassin 21, but for some reason my 27 with stealth I don't do nearly as well. Maybe I try to change my playstyle too much and get carried away thinking I'm invisible, but it's certainly something.

Consider running it as a laser spam. I quickly gave up on missiles in the damn thing (though I may try it again with MRMS since I have yet to skill it out) and mastered it running 2lpl and 4ML running a std 300 (I think). Latter I switched to an XL and 3LPL and 2ML did about the same (those STs attract a lot of fire but the CT sticks out too so its kind of a toss up). Point is that both of those builds let me survive a lot longer and do a lot more than with missile (SRMs or LRMs) and I honestly think it was due to no damn doors giving me away early.

Stormcrows. Even when they were "God tier" mechs, I couldn't and still can't make them work for me. Ironically, I can perform better in a Shadow Cat.

Edit: I also have bad luck in the BLR-1S. I'm decent in the other variants, but THAT one is definitely cursed. .17 W/L ratio, even though my K/D is 1:1 in it.

Pretty sure my MADIIC somehow got cursed. Can't get score me a kill but when I switch over to the MAD I constantly make 2-3 kills all of a sudden per game. I'm still trying to understand why this is even a thing or better yet, figure out if the game is trolling me.

For me, It's the Stormcrow, it's the only chassis I have, that I cannot get to work for me...

To put this into perspective, I can get double the score numbers in a Dragon than I can get in my Stormcrow...

Technically you could outrun a linebacker(115 kph?)

Yes technically you can, however, you have to assume in an actual match if you were the kk you'd be moving erratically as possible trying to use terrain to get away as the line back only a few meters away has weapons out to 300m or farther if it is using the er version with targeting computer of some kind. As the KK you have to doge those incoming back shots. As the linebacker on the chase all you need is one good alpha to ct red the back or two to kill that light.

Given you don't know the exact build and load out of the panther it might be on the slow engine speed of 97kph if it didn't spec speed tweak but did take the max 290 engine. It could be going slower too if it is an ac 2, 5, or ppc mix build.

Kit Fox comes to mind. Don't have the Purifier so can't comment on that one. I've had a lot better luck with the Adders recently than I've ever had since 2014 but prior to the new tech I would have put the Adder and Kit Fox in the same category of mechs that just don't click with me. Maybe some day the Kit Fox and I will come to terms and I'll learn how to use it more effectively.

Kitfox is my fave support mech, yet whenever i step into my purifier i find my team anhialated in about 2-3mins flat without that nice ecm/ams and torso lasers actually getting the chance to do a damned thing to help out.

I'd say any non-scorch Marauder IIC. The Scorch boasts the highest K/D of any mech I own, but the other MAD-IICs I own(ed) have among my lowest.

Cursed Lights
Cheeto
Cougar
Jenner and its 2C
Panther
Wolfhound
Sad Lynx
Commando 2D
Huginn

Cursed Mediums

All of my Uziels.
Bushwackers
Centurion
Blackjacks
Florentine
Ice Ferret P
All of my Vipers
All my Phoenix Hawks
Shadowcat

Cursed Heavies
Dragon
Catapult K2
Tempests
EBJ Prime
Hellbringer F
Warrant

Assaults
Atlas
King Crab
Ultraviolent

The lights and their curses,I just can't deal enough damage to kill threats fast enough, and even IF im doing my job scouting, nobody seems to fire on it.

The mediums are cursed because the Uziel is bad,I can't get the vibe down on the Bushwackers no matter what kinds of builds I try. The Florentine is frustrating to use and fit because i can't make a build that's decent. The Blackjacks well,I never was good with them. The Centurion to me is an inferior Hunchback, The fridge I just can't make a fun build I like. Same with the Vipers. There's no fits I actually enjoy running on them. The only thing I do like about the Vipers is they're fast and fly well. Shadowcat and Phoenix Hawk have the same issue.

My cursed heavies..so frustrating to use. I love the Dragon's mobility and agility. But as soon as I get into a fight,my torsos get ripped off and I'm a running stick. Archers? I use MRMs and LRMs on some of them,I've done the splatter builds, etc, always losing torsos. K2? I run a super stock build on it. I've run the dual gauss, dual UACs,dual 20s. Get spotted, get primaried. Ebon Jag? Always losing arms and STs. Rarely do I lose my CT. Hellbringer F? Feels so squishy compared to my Hellbringer Prime.

Those Assaults? Potato teams. EVERY DANG TIME. Timid teams. I start the push and let them know, then they just let me die while doing hardly any damage. Especially my Atlai. My King Crab? Im able to do damage, then they fall back when I start getting chewed up trying to protect them. Ultraviolet? I get pewpewed from range because every time I run it it seems like it's always Polar. All of my brawler assaults end up in ******* Polar or Alpine.

To me,it seems like it's a mix of bad maps(polar LRM hell, alpine etc) potato teams(too timid, suicidal stupid etc) and my own errors(bad positioning, poor loadout for the map etc)
