As an owner of those omnimechs, this should be interesting.

As a person who frequently forgets he own omnimechs, and regularly chuckles whenever he sees on in his garage, this will likely be disappointing.

Those 8-piece quirks.

-Lets make omni's less customizable than regular mechs, now wouldn't that be cool!
-Yeah, and than let's do 8-pod quirks to discourage customization even more!

Nova is Wave I, so it should have no changes.

Not expecting much, but I'm guessing the low performers with the best variant(usually with some CT only bonus and or E slot) and pods gonna be touch. And probably remove the free pod quirks when changing one if lucky like the Linebacker and can keep a few bonuses.

But as said again not expecting much.

The Timber Wolf is the iconic Clan mech. As such, the decades-old anti-Clan crusade has that OmniMech as their #1 target.

Never mind the fact that in TT, the TImber Wolf have yet to be equaled for speed, durability and firepower in the heavy weight catagory.... Not even the vaunted Mk. IV Savage Wolf can match it's older progenitor...

I wouldn't think any time would be needed to discover the Light Gauss is horribly underpowered; just looking at its DPS stats would be enough for that.

You don't even need to go that far, just looking at it's base stats, before PGI even started looking at coding it should've told them it'd be bad, just the all the IS LB's that they added with the tech update...

We need to make the Mad Cat Mk. V Savage Wolf II. Because the Savage Wolf is too good of a name to die out. >:0

To be fair, the concept of 8-pod quirks isn't bad on its own. The issue is that PGI sometimes uses those as the only quirks that a mech gets.

I think the system would be better if PGI used modular per-pod quirks for the majority of a mech's balancing (balance the mech based on the assumption that people will customize it), and then add a few set of 8 quirks to crappy stock variants for flavor sake.

Woah!!! Slow down cow boy let's enjoy we even got to MK.IV in the Timberwolf bloodline. We got to let the water cool bfore adding more embers, be cooler to a omni version of the Orion IIC, not the Perseus that the FWL use. Something made by Wolf in Exile?

At this point it should not irritate me that the CW tonnage change (and then no change) announcement/discussion, and now this August roadmap element are exclusively being put forth by PGI on twitter, but it does; it still does.

Two points ...

I would agree completely with the comments if IS and Clans were actually balanced. They could use pod quirks to balance under performing omnis.

However, pod quirks have to be VERY carefully selected or folks can min/max the quirks and get an OP mech as a result using some combination of pod quirks/skills/loadouts. IS only has chassis quirks combined with fixed hardpoints so an energy quirk can only apply to whatever number of energy hard points are on the variant while a clan omni pod with an energy quirk a single energy hard point would affect every energy hard point on the build (which could be 10+)

One fix to quirk min/max could be to apply clan pod quirk ONLY to hard points on that particular pod and to increase the quirk values as needed .. or alternatively take the quirk value and divide it up among the number of hard points of that type in the final build.

Anyway, until IS ~= Clan, there is limited justification for any clan quirks.

P.S. All IS variants can only have the stock hard point distribution. Set of 8 quirks are just a mechanism to make stock clan hard points more desirable for players to use. Personally, I'd think set of 8 xp or cbill bonuses might be a better way to get that done.

I totally agree.
Just being salty because I dont like PGI's general approach to omnimechs.

I am not sure that I am all that worried because lets face it, the Clans don't get much in the way of quirks so even if they lose some of them or they are moved to set of 8 only, I am not sure I would really notice. However I am sure there is at least one of my Clan mechs that will get ruined somehow because its inevitable something I own and enjoy will get nerfed to uselessness every patch.

Yeah i used to love playing my TBRs but they've been nerfed to the point where i can easily do better in the likes of the Adder or Cougar. :/
