Hello, I just restarted to play MWO once again since few months of absence.
Even though I participated in CBT and OBT, didn't really played that long (only 4~5 matches combined at that time).

Anyway few questions I have for experts, first) Any mech recommendation for UAC/RAC build? I normally play with Mediums and Heavies, not really good with piloting skills so Assaults and Lights are not the options now.

Second) I am currently at Tier 4 (almost hitting tier 3 though), but Quick Play MM is taking too long for me, even queing up for both NA/EU servers don't seem to help that much, I am not sure it's because there aren't many tier 5s and 4s or MM design is the cause. I want to keep on playing after matches but waiting for long minutes is what making my experience of this game very loosening and get bored quickly. I wonder other players experience this one though.

Otherwise, have a nice day community!

Bushwhacker is the one IS that can mount RAC5's that I absolutely loathe... It somehow cores my 100 armor CT on my Mad Cat Mk II in under 4 seconds, so don't ever get that one... ;)

While UAC /= Rotarry ACs in terms of playstyle and role.

>RACs:
- Spinup time --> no poking or torsotwisting --> worst possible weapon for brawls or direct confrontations
- dot type of weapon an other point versus direct confrontations or damage spreading by torsotwisting
- spreadfire weapon --> RACs have a cone of fire so you can not do PP dmg
- can jam if fired for too long
- creates massive screen shake and blinding effects at the enemy, so it is usefull for suppressive fire or as stopping weapon.

Settings or situations for RACs are support situations where you stay in second line while your team draws fire
This sounds LRM like bad but isn't quite that bad since it is a Line of Sight (LOS) weapon.
Since you can't realy turn away from an enemy you should bring good frontal armor.
Mechs like Rifleman or Jager mech will be downed in one or two salvos so ... nogo.
Either use a smal stealthy mech or a very big heavy armor mech.

I do not recommend RACs for quasi new players since you have to do all the things a new player should learn not to do. (Staring at an enemy, staying back etc)

>UACs:
- burst fire weapons that can be used for poking or brawling situations
- larger ones for high dps brawling and smaler ones for dps midrange support
- PP potential especially against larger mechs
- Jam's randomly so be cautious
- smaler ones have to be boated to be effective-->tonnage (min 2xUAC5 or 3xUAC2 for dps worth the tonnage)

UACs are reliable alround weapons with medium heat output that can be managed even by inexperienced players.
It i also a classic stay with the pack weapon that requires you to move and have direct sightline to the enemy.
Good UAC mechs are Mechs like the Warhammer with dual UAC10 and some suplementals or the Roughneck with 3UAC5 or 4 UAC2.
Marauder with 3 UAC5 is still okish but tends to loose its sidetorso fast.
If you desperately want to play the sniper (and mostlikely get eaten by lightsPosted Image ) use a good old 3 UAC5 Jager, or a quad UAC2 Rifleman.
A Catapult K2 with dual UAC5 and some medlasers can also be devestating in right hands.

Thanks for the kindly advice! Yeah, RAC is something that's not really for beginners out there. I need to learn more about AC or UAC builds. And.. about region and play time, I am currently living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, normally play in the evening times around 6PM to 12AM, not like I can't get into any matches but taking some time to have just one match. Normally, MM taking about more than a 1 minutes or so, even during weekends.

HBK-4G. The hunchie's a classic. You can swap to uac 5s easily enough, an if'n ya feel the need, toss some armour on the arms an add some small lasers for a lower ammo count, but a bit more brawly power.
