Probably because it's stupid to buff 1 engine type and not the other 2.

There appears to be a fairly easy solution to this quandry.... buff all 3!

Yea, it sucks when you lose a ST on a mech with small LFE engine. Your speed goes from barely acceptable down to a crawl levels.

not only that but you can go into overheat instantly. Something i never had happened on my Clan mech.

ISXL should survive side torso destruction with same penalties as CXL

LFE should be able to survive both side torsos being destroyed, but suffer half penalties for each side torso destroyed (full penalties if both side torsos are destroyed)

STD should never suffer penalties and should also give a substantial CT structure bonus

all three engines would be balanced then

Sometimes I ask myself, where people get their "ideas" from.......

Never heard such a bad suggestion!

which is why I said substantial structure bonuses not "some"

id consider using a STD engine on certain mechs if it gave like +50 CT structure

Still not good enough. Give it a real bonus like +33% to heat cap. This ensures the bonus is useful 100% of the time. Your suggestion would only come into effect close to destruction. Not good enough.

I've already sold EVERY SINGLE XL ENGINE I OWN.

Why?

Because I'm tired of being a liability just to break even with clans.

I'll run LFE or STD from now on till MWO dies.

theres nothing bad about balancing the game

and you cant balance the game unless IS and Clan tech are equal

Gentlemen we're going off topic. I'll ask it again plainly.

Why does LFE, which is heavier than C-XL, share the same penalties on ST loss? Why not half?

Because Clan equipment is supposed to be technically superior in many ways, including weight and size. Because they are the same size, the same penalties are produced from the same amount of engine being destroyed. The LFE is heavier at the same size because IS tech doesn't use the same method or materials to produce the engine, resulting in a heavier engine.

Which is fine and dandy in TT where it's not 1:1 of players:mechs. Here, however, it's a glaring oversight.

Greetings MechWarriors. Got a simple question for everyone. Why does the IS LFE have the same exact penalties as the Clan XL while weighing more when everything else for the IS already weighs more? LFF is nice but that half ton you gain from it doesn't really compare to just going full XL and twisting, it seems.

Because PGI is stupid, that's why. No other Mechwarrior game was stupid enough to hold onto the side-torso death penalty for XLs because that is grade A ********. PGI chose to hold onto it because they have no idea what they're doing. Why bother following in the footsteps of previous games when you can screw things up your own personal way? There's a reason Table Top is Table Top and Mechwarrior is Mechwarrior. The two were never meant to be identical. But don't tell PGI that.
