The tiers have been reset twice since you last played. Match scoring has been altered signifigantly- you actually need to contribute to a win, or defend heavily in a loss, to go up. That said, if you're as competent as you say you are, it only takes about 30 great games to move up a tier.

nah no way lol. If i get into the game now i'll probably wont know how to shoot! I returned for a bit during '17 but havent played since. Was thinking of getting back but will see. Thanks o/

Here comes the explanation:

► All MWO players - every single one, fresh Cadets included - were moved to the mid-Tier 3 in July 2020. ▼

► In December 2020 PGI made another movement: All players registered after July 2020 with less than 20-25 games have been moved to Tier 5. The PGI's original intent was to move those new Cadets (i.e. new players registered after July 2020 and with less than 20-25 games) to Tier 5, so they would not have to face skilled Tier 1 and Tier 2 players. ▼

► Now insert a piece of PGI's programming. ▼

► All players with less than 20-25 games played after July 2020 were moved to Tier 5, even if they have been registered since 2011. ▼

Your PSR movement depends not only on your personal match score, but on the performance of the other 23 players. To give you some rough idea, the one or two best players of the defeated team get the green arrow and the two worst players of the victorious team get the red arrow.

Being on the winning side does not mean that you will get the green arrow automatically.

It takes less than 5 games to move up to tier4 for 90 percentile player, unless ring rust is massive .

How do you you view your current tier nowadays? Used to be in the home screen under PILOT INFO, now it's gone.

The MWO forums Tier badge:

1. Log in to the forums and go to your Profile.




2. Click "Publicly Display Tier".



This should do the trick.

The Mechlab Tier Display:

1. Log in to your Mechlab and click "Settings".




2. Click "Hide Tier In The Front End".

3. Click "Save".



This should show you your exact position in your Tier.

one opf the biggest factors in determining tier rating is how modern thei computer and how high their FPS is. Since i am forced to deal with a low end computer due to being on disability i am satisfied to be tier 4 mostly, though sometimes when i get close to someones mech for some reason or another the fps on mine drops. unlike most of the socalled elites i think i am better to have the kdr and wl that they have bec i have to work with a sub ar computer.

The current tier calculation version works well enough, it's impossible to not have stomps because of the randomness of what a player picks to play each match (build/mech) and which map they end up on. And especially things like how the team interacts, even something as simple as choosing to go left or right at the beginning has a dramatic impact. 24 cats running around wild, and you can't herd a herd of cats.

If you want consistency and structure, join a guild and do faction play only.
