Does anyone think that they will put in Tanks, Helos and what not in the game as a meaningful threat? Should they?
I say why not my self, since there is so many in the background material like...

I say yes, but they should be AI entities. Convoys to be escorted, artillery (off map and on), "effects" (airstrikes), maybe stationary units, at the very least idle scenery. I'm just not a fan of the notion of player-controlled vehicles.

I would enjoy flying an old school Hammerhead!

I think I remember some official mention of turrets. I wouldn't be shocked to have some minor armor or vtol support.

I like the idea of aerospace, VTOL, and vehicle assets being available for both sides, as AI units. I don't think the payoff would be worth the effort to code player controlled non-mech units.

I think that player controlled vehicles could be a nice addition way later down the line, though. Truthfully, there are some vehicles that I would love to take toe to toe with a battlemech. I don't think it should be anything done soon, just later down the line as additional content patched into the game in the distant future.

Perhaps a team prior to the start of a battle can purchase an armor detail or aerial support with C-Bills for that battle only? That'd be pretty nifty... it'd add a slightly bigger sense of battle instead of the static mech vs mech. Type of support available could be limited to the planet/region the battle is about to take place in.

What would be nice, and this is just an idea tossed around between old Chromehound pilots I know, is to have downed squad mates respon in non mech units. In a ONE MECH each PER MISSION game type with a limited time limit (15min in Chromehounds now 20min in MWO) this is one really enjoyable way to stay interested in the game as you wait for winning conditions be reached, or time to run out.
Give dead players something useful to drive to keep them in the game. Pick at the enemy or stay mobile to relay intel to the remaining squad. They don’t not need to be powerful, just something that players can move and shoot with.
