Would you want to take part in Battle of Tukayyid and/or how do you imagine it happening in MWO?

I do not just want to "take part". I want to help determine the outcome.

...however, Clan Wolf pulled out the victory on their front; I may just have to let myself be taken bondsman to one of our lesser-gifted brethren in order to 'change history.'

The idea is cool. But I wonder how to acually make it work. 12 vs 12 is not like nearly enough to make me feel like Tukyyid.

Depends entirely on potential implementations.

Happy to change the story but the risk is high, in some ways i prefer not to touch any canon events!

what happens to MWO if the clans win? Do we loss the hard core fans who can't handle a 'canon' change? Would MWO survive?

The real question is did the "Truce" really prevent the "Clan Invasion". Consider the Great Houses may sound really fantastic, but they are, within the fiction, Interstellar Super-States built on chains of self-interest (I recall the "Dune Messiah" novel, arguably the worst novel in series, but it notes how the "Princess" Paul marries to take the Empire is not a toy- she is trained in poisons, how to overthrow governments, and how to manipulate social arrangements and law for increasing power and thus, in many ways, trained to kill. The Founding Fathers knew aristocrats and Europeans were dangerous. The French are particularly dangerous and often underestimated. The Clans likewise dismiss the Great Houses as "children" but even a child with a gun can easily, very easily, slay the strongest man. ) Comstar had been trying to eliminate them for centuries to no avail, and considered using the Clans at first to destroy the Houses, and only opposed them cause the Clans wanted to take Earth- the Center of Comstar's "Holy Order".

If the Clans had taken Earth, and declared an "IlClan" they would have been met by the Great Houses proper. That is, to paraphrase "nigh endless amounts of Regiments". The forces Clans meet at the Periphery Border are small as most forces are concentrated at the center. Once the Great House machines really get mobilized, like a pack of King Kongs, the Clans would have trouble surviving, let alone considering assaults.

I mean when anyone reads about the Second Star League and just how brutally effective their campaign was there is no doubt. Their battle against Smoke Jaguar was very one sided. And I would say Smoke Jaguar was a Strong Clan- one of the Strongest. In terms of Mech composition- the most pragmatic. They tended to pair Masakaris with Daishis. That is a NASTY combo to have to take down (though the Draconis Combine did).

Many Clan fans now put down Smoke Jaguar simply because they lost. Pretty insecure if you ask me, but the fact was the Great Houses United ware nearly invincible, even if a bit slow. I mean we are talking about being outnumbered 100 or perhaps even 1000 to one here. Even "Superior Race" (I think of Khan with his "Superior Intellect" here) Clans cannot take that.

So how important was the Truce? According to the general opinion it stopped the Clan invasion, but a more realistic view of logistics shows it only stalled the inevitable. Indeed, Clans may have been wiped out without the Truce- since the Word of Blake may have joined the Great Houses. That would have combined superior numbers with genocidal tendencies.

Rather than actually playing the battle of Tukayyid, you could make it a circle of equals based on the the forces used by both the clans and the inner sphere. Accordingly the canon would not be affected.

I think that the Battle of Tukayyid should be a special event where IS players can select SL era mechs which they do not own and fight Clan players. The more victories the higher the rewards (SL era mechs, Clan tech or potentially access to Comstar/WoB as a faction).

I would love to take part in the battle, it would be very very hard to implement and i doubt the servers could handle fights on that scale let alone the average pc.

Well the neatest thing would be if they could set a server asside just for these various big battle. hard to say just how many players at a time could get on if it was a perfect world it would be a major battle but the voice in side my head reminds me of when blizzard tried to do server wide event opening of the gates in that bug town. My gosh lag moster came out and beat all of us to death. Would be neat but I think we are still a few years away from it when we all have internet speed in the gigabit range.Another thing though that could be done would be to take teh battle of what evers map and divide it into areas. Everyone can see the overall map as it is updated. Each area is color coded red blue or yellow.(random color picks) Red is one side blue is the other side and yellow is when its being fought over, or being invaded.

It would not really matter as we all know the outcome of such an event. But it could be fun as a small limited time event with a few special maps. It could also be a nice launch event for larger scale fighting.

I don't mind it if they make 'side skirmishes' for us to participate it while leaving the main battle alone. Supply lines, defending bases, etc. Even if it won't determine the outcome, we can still get rewards for accomplishing those goals. If they don't introduce AI they can do it via new mission objective maps that we can queue for (like event maps) that are only available for the event duration.

Servers SHOULD handle such fights as long as Clan warriors are bots, but smart A.I requires a lot of processing power. But it could be unfair for some players if someone can use Clan technology, but they cant. IMO it would be best, if Clan warriors were bots.

I'm concerned too about the outcome, since knowing, that IS is going to win, ruins the intensity. IMO few minor plot twists could help, as long as they won't alter the events too much.

That seems to be the best idea for me, but one major problen is that the Battle of Tukayyid lasts only 20 days.

No point. The outcome is written in stone(canon). And what fun of fighting when you know the outcome and can't influence it in any way?
