It isn't all about the damage done, it's also where you place your shots and how much spread your weapons have. I can easily get ~500 in an Urban mech with 2xerLL, and get more kills, vs 1000+ in a missile boat but get fewer kills. Using weapons with large spreads (missiles) or even PPC (or lasers if you can't hold it steady) you are wasting heat and ammo spreading damage all over their mech. I'm not saying it isn't good to do more damage, just that it can be misleading to only focus on that one aspect.
As to actual records? I rarely take screen shots, but I've gotten
~1250 and 3 solo kills in a Timberwolf, loadout IIRC was 4xsrm6, 3mg, 4erml on polar highlands, ONCE. Just a random lucky break where I was going down a canyon and ran into 3 in a row who were all by themselves.
The trial Highlander is a beast, despite the awkwardly low arm cannons, routinely getting over 800dmg and several kills per match (I've only played it a few times but it's a killer) I hate slow mechs, but when there is a challenge for assaults, it's my Go-To mech (when available). I think my max was ~1350.
My TNS-5s routinely/easily gets over 800 with 2xRAC5, ecm, max JJ. It' ammo limited, but I rarely run out of ammo with 6.5 tons. I tend to waste a bit blasting at ~700m, but if you can wait to close to 500m for most of your shooting you'll not run out of ammo before you break well over 1000dmg.
None of those are using airstrikes, so that's pure weapon damage.
It's hard to quantify, as (anymore) I run mostly lights and 2x airstrikes, I've had some great matches frequently getting close to 1000 in...
UM-R60L with 2xERLL, max eng, max JJ
KFX-PR with 4x srm6 +1xhml (ecm) kit fox (my current favorite build, tip of the spear)
OR
KFX-PR with 2xhml and 1xppc (ecm) kit fox (more sniping/pop tarting, a little brawling)
but with airstrikes, it's hard to know just how much was weapon damage.
I don't recall breaking 1000 in the KFX or UM, and an average match is ~400-600dmg in either of those , almost never getting bellow 300 dmg unless I do something stupid and get killed early.
But like I said, you can't just base effectiveness on damage alone. You can nuke half their team and still do less than 500dmg if using pinpoint weapons. If you're a good shot, you can just core them.
I can't recall exactly, but I'm pretty sure I've gotten ~1500 once or twice (I've not been playing very long though)
