The biggest downside to SSRMs is they are mandatory to have locks.
So their main purpose where they would be effective without a question -- > hunting lights is often prevented by a light with ecm simply cuddling you to completely prevent you from getting any possibility of lock on.

If they worked like ATMs, it would shred lights even harder because now all of those missiles are going for center mass and, boom, no more side torso.

Can confirm, even the lowly IS SSRM2 used to curbstomp lights when used in very low quantities of only 2-3 back when it was a CT-seeker. People tend to forget history on gaming forums...
